This limited edition brew is a unique collaboration between brewery and beer writer. Melissa Cole brought her vast experience to the tasting table and helped us deliver a stout worth writing home about.

Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

Bottle, 500ml. A pitch black beer with a minimal red hue at the bottom and a medium size brown head. It has a lot of aromas, like coffee, nuts, spices, alcohol, anis and some herbs. Taste is bitter and gets an smoked character at the end. Robust and very dense with an incredible aftertaste of roasted coffee, chocolate and nuts. An exceptional beer.

Bottle, 500ml. Almost opaque black with a frothy brown head. Very complex aroma with a strong dark malt and dried fruit character, with very floral undertones, hints of chocolate, anis, cherry. Robust bodied with moderate to flat bodied. Rich, thick and oily, with fiery roasted and alcohol character. Finish is smooth and crisp, yet heavily bitter. A magnificent ale.

Pitch black color with brown thick foam layer. Chocolately smell with a little roasty coffee. The taste is thick and sweet without overdoing it. Milkchololate taste actually. Very smooth aftertaste with a chocolate blend. Brilliant beer.

Flaska 0,5 liter.

Aroma is chocolate, caramel, black licorice and vanilla. Taste is very deep rich malts with a profile similar to the aroma. Transitions nicely into a well balanced hop profile that isn?t overly complex. Rich malt and caramel on the tip with a faint bitterness. Appearance is black with a thin beige head that retains ok.

Bottle. Pours inky black, medium tan head, creamy and slow to dissipate leaving nice lacing in its wake. Aroma is rich, roasty, molasses, anise, some chocolate. Flavor is light sweet and full bitter, rich and roasty, notes of molasses and licorice, some cocoa powder. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, lingering bitterness. Definitely a high quality beer for those who don’t like their impys to be overly sweet.

Black color with big beige head. Aroma of chocolate and fruits, a bit booze. Taste is rich chocolate, a bit sweet, ashes/burnt malts, nice fruit, coffee towards the end and a bitter finish. The aftertaste is not perfect, but the balance between fruit and chocolate is good! A classic Imperial Stout.

Bottle. Black with a small head. Lovely chocolate flavour with a trace of coffee and cherry. Full bodied but not overpowering. Delicious and an excellent example of this style.

Bottle @ home, 2013 edition. Almost black with a lasting dark beige head and a little lacing. Sweet, fruity and roasted nose with balanced vinous notes. Has coffee, chocolate, raisins, plums, toffee, some leather. Sweet, smooth and big bodied mouth feel with average carbonation. Taste of dark chocolate, sweet raisins, dark bread, black currants & leather. With a short to average duration and then lingering coffee bitterness, some annoying lemon like sourness and a nice note of licorice.
