Bottle from Tesco. Surprisingly rich porter for this voltage. Nice roasty flavors together with cocoa. Bit sour to the end. Pleasant.

11.2 oz. bottle, consumed on 4-2-18. I’ve been on this site for over 11 years, and I’m surprised I haven’t rated this classic. Pours a medium to dark brown with an amber hue and a small to moderate amount of taupe head. Scents of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, and toffee. English yeast unmistakable in the aroma. On the bad side, there’s a hint of slightly spoiled milk. Really nice, dark chocolate flavor. Cocoa. Roasted malt finish. Tastes good, especially at first, but it seems a little bland upon multiple sips. Lemony aftertaste, to my surprise. Light to medium body. Simple and aqueous palate. Well, this classic is a nice beer, but I can’t say it’s quite worthy of its acclaim here. 7.4.7.3.14=>3.5

Bottle from Waitrose (£2). I’ve tried this before but never gave it a rating. It’s probably one of the better porters, but not even close to my bottled favourite - the amazing Tempest Red Eye Flight. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
