I don’t ’get’ London Pride. Although I like out more than I used to (used to call it London Shame), it’s still a second choice beer for me behind supposedly lesser brews. Anyway, aroma is smoky old pubs from my childhood, badly patterned carpets, wood polish, fat men with moustaches making off colour jokes, cricket pavilions. So far so good - it’s an old fashioned beer. The palate is all wrong though. Too lively and the bubbles are just too big. And it’s oily. Taste is good, nice and bitter, rounding off with caramel malt. But it’s just a full on beeriness, nothing unexpected there. Second half of the bottle seems thinner and sourer. Great beer gets better.

Bottle at Simon and Fiona's, can't believe, I haven't rated this one. 30th December 17. Pours copper colour. Aroma is caramel, malt. Taste is malt and bitter, some caramel, slight floral. It's fine for what it is.

Sweet, roasted malts paired well with bitter hops. Hint of milk chocolate in the aroma. Easy drinking and nice to have a change from fruity, floral hops every now and then.

Kupferfarben, wenig Schaum, dezente Carbo.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2017 On tap at the Shakespeare. A classic. Pours a beautiful clear mahagony. Slight notes of fruit and spice on the nose. Light bodied. A touch of bitterness. Solid.

Supprisingly good pasturised bitter. Wonderfully sharp hop profile with thrust quenching malts. Very nice hits the spot.
