Our Double Stout, the sixth in the series, is brewed to a recipe from 1910 - a time of high popularity for this strong dark ale. This recipe is distinguished by smooth chocolate and coffee notes, with black forest fruits emerging alongside subtle hop bitterness.

Bottle of 50cl, in a Pint; room-temperature. Really a beautiful, nice dark stout, full of aroma and taste : sweet but not to sweet, with a mix between cocoa and coffee, but with some notes of hops. Always a nice time to drink Fuller's beers.

Bottle at home, from Fullers click and collect, 10/12/17. Room temperature for this juan. Black with a well appointed tan head. Nose is dark chocolate, rich dark fruit rinds, chocolate dipped raisins, light spice, tar, molasses, roast malts. Taste comprises bitter roast, cocoa powder, charr, burnt toffee, brown bread, dates, light spice, hint of coffee. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close with a roasted bite. Decent stout.

December 2017 - 500ml bottle at home in Richmond as 'Fuller's Past Masters 1910 Double Stout', 7.4%, BB 2018. This pours a fizzy black, opaque, foamy brown head dies away quite quickly. Aroma is chocolate truffles, light yeasty metallic notes, vanilla. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is vanilla, milk chocolate, faint dark fruits, earthy and metallic bitter notes, a tangy dry ashy finish. Quite full flavoured but a bit on the metallic and yeasty side. An OK stout. I found this bottle from the grain d'orges in Crissier, one of the few place where you can get this beer, best before:12/2018. In my own opinion, it is a delightful stout, it is really the kind of beer so good that you could drink pints for ever like Gustave Courbet. The color is a powerful black body, opaque, white and brown foam, regular carbonation for the style. We could say that it is a foreign stout, excellent notes of roasted malt, coffee, delicious dark chocolate, hop, it is a dry stout, well balanced powerful aromas of coffee and roasted malt, reaching your nose in a poetical way, I drank this one with my wife, lovely experience from a correct macro brewery.
