COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned. Limited Edition. An authentic recipe from 1926.
Since 1845 every Fuller’s Head Brewer has kept a hand-written book of brews. The Past Masters series is a glimpse into our unique brewing history, using our archive of knowledge to revive long-lost beers for today’s connoisseurs.
This toasted, chocolate recipe was chosen to celebrate the 90th Birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth II. It was brewed at the time of her birth in 1926 and was selected by our brewers and Gerry O’Brien, manager of our world-famous London pub, The Churchill Arms.
This is an unmistakably British porter brewed for the quintessential British icon. As a bottle-conditioned beer it contains sediment that allows the flavours to develop up until the moment the bottle is opened. This beer should be stored upright in a dark room and poured carefully when served.

I picked up this bottle at the grain d'orges, in Crissier. I tried this one two days ago for the birthday of my brother, at home in Lausanne, best before 12/2018. It was the second beer of the day and we were not disappointed. In my own opinion, it is a lovely oatmeal stout with intense aromas for the style. The body is deeply black, white and brown foam, average carbonation, normal carbonation. The taste is with roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, hop with a dry and mineral finish, bitterness and coffee staying a right moment your mouth, side of oat giving a kind of sweetness but behind the coffee, well built beer, dreamy moment in the pub.

Trolleo (1833) - Pula / Zagreb, CROATIA - NOV 9, 2017
Toasty, milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt. Pitch black, small tan to brown head. Sweet toasted bread, chocolate, some sweet liquor. Miraculously thin for a style and ABV. Flat, bit oily, some burning alcohol sensation during finish. Fine, but need to admit I've expected more. //bottle thanks to Mladen

Pours near black with a reddish brown tinge. Tan head with excellent head retention. Aroma of dark malt, chocolate and coffee with a moderate hop aroma, a little piney and resinous. Also a hint of herbal, licorice aroma. Flavour is medium sweet and good balance of bitterness and alcohol warmth. Lovely smooth finish. A truly delicious porter. Doesn’t have the easy drinking style of Fuller’s London Porter, but then that isn’t the point is it?

Fules (1425) - Gyöngyös, HUNGARY - SEP 30, 2017
Közepes, nagyon tartós, bézs hab, vöröses fekete szín. Aszalt gyümölcsös, gabonás, enyhe pörkölt malátás illat. Pörkölt malátás, kávés, aszalt gyümölcsös ízek. Kissé száraz, közepesen testes, közepesen szénsavas és keserű. Kellemes, letisztult, nem túlbonyolított porter.
