1966 Strong Ale, the fourth in the series, is a bottle conditioned ale brewed to a strong ale recipe from 1966 when it was drunk during the celebration of England’s victory in the World Cup. This warming, dark ruby ale has a rich rounded flavour with notes of plum and a velvety warm caramel finish.

Butelka do 31.Dec.2016 Czerwono-miedziane, piana średnia, dość trwała, a samo piwo długo pracuje w szkle. W aromacie słodowość, biszkopty, suszone owoce, wyraźne rodzynki i śliwki, nuta winna w stylu Malagi. W smaku słodycz ciasteczkowa i dojrzałe owoce. Wytrawne, nawet taniczne na finiszu, średnie nasycenie.

sweet, warm and medium taste (very pleasant) - nut and quince jam, a lot of flowers, yellow ripe fruits, a bit fermented, caramel and raisins with alcohol. medium taste - quince jam (too sweet and too obvious), over-ripe and juicy fruits, caramel, raisins with cognac, some flowers and bitterness in the background, belgian yeasts. good and well done, with a perfect aroma, despite of a lot and too obvious sweetness.

Bottle, 0.50l. Clear ruby brown color with thick creamy tan-like head and sparkling appearance. Lovely aroma of caramel, berries, raisins, vanilla, wood and alcohol. Taste starts with heavy sweet toasted and caramel malt, following is strong medicinal with dried fruit and grassy notes, mouthfeel is warming alcoholic, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, syrupy texture and average carbonation in palate. Rich and strong, but seems fairly indigestible to me...

Bottle from Systembolaget, cellared for quite a while. Cloudy reddish brown color with off white head. Aroma of caramel, fudge, prunes, raisins and light oaky vanilla. Taste follows the same with some syrupy notes at first leading to a fruity prune/raisin finish.

Flasche (50 cl) von Getränkefeinkost Berlin. - Tiefes Kupferrot, leicht trüb. - Intensiver aber runder Duft nach Röstbrot mit delikater Waldhonignote, herbem Orangeat, Himbeerkonfitüre, Marzipan und Bitterschokolade. - Antrunk kräftig herb-malzig mit Röstbrot und beträchtlicher Bittere (Orangenschale). Mild karamelsüß; es überwiegt die Malzbittere und die Fuller’s-typische fruchtige Herbe, dazu Kakao und Bitterschokolade. Mild rezent, vollmundig schwer. Im Abgang wuchtige Bittere aber auch etwas schale Süße. Langer, kräftig hopfenbitterer Nachtrunk. Eigenartig seifiger Nachgeschmack. - Sehr kräftiges Strong Ale, noch dichter und schwerer als Fuller’s 1845, nur in kleinen Schlucken zu trinken. Bei Erwärmung wirkt es ein wenig muffig bzw. schal, daher Abwertung.

Smell of caramelized malt. Cloudy brown colour, beige head. Aroma of caramel malt, syrup, raisins, overripe fruit, some oak. Sweet with medium bitterness. Oily texture, lively carbon. Rich body. Not one of my favourite styles, but a well balanced example of it.

500 ml. bottle. Purchased @ Malt Attacks. BBF 31/12/2016. Pours deep faint red amber, touch brown, little tanned head. Nose is heavily metallic, odd herbal note with strong herbal biscuit malts, herbal flowers, herbal copper quality & more metals. Taste is overly metallic & herbal with some syrup, strong biscuit malts but even these seem metallic, dusty caramel & toffee, chestnuts & more dust, a touch of resin, bread, touch syrup. Quite thin, biscuit & metallic. I always feel a strong fascination with historical beers but I always heavily question their accuracy. I question this one even more than usually. This should have been less metallic with more malt sweetness. That suggestion is clearly diverging from its historic quality, accurate or not. Age might make it more unified & sweeter. I always feel a sad personal fascination with this brewery, they never fully satisfy me, tells you too much about myself more than anything else. Anyway it is far too metallic to fully enjoy for me.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais. Dark brown beer lasting beige head. Very malty aroma. Lots of fruits but also a lot like a strong brown ale. Some fruit cake. Some English hop flavour. I mean it’s almost too malty. Almost tastes aged. Some spice. Odd.

Flaska från SB. Ca 1,5 år gammal. Vacker rödbrun färg med högt skum. Klassisk engelsk strong ale där tiden fått sötma och alkohol att integreras väl. Fudge, karamell, torkad frukt, plommon, honung, sött bröd. Trots söta dofter och smaker och relativt låg beska, välbalanserad. En trevlig strong ale.

Strange fuzzy almost metallic nose. Clear sparkling reddish brown colour. Some whispy thin tan head. Slightly carbonic start which turns to an acidity. In time mouth feel improves as the taste reveals a smooth soothing buttery maltiness with traces of metal and leather.
