Bottle @ Yespr. Pours near clear amber with virtually no head. Aroma is quite malty, caramel, toffee, herbs, sweet, light toasted malts, hvidtøl and dark fruit. Taste is moderate sweet and light bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbo is soft+. Finish malty sweet and warming.

0.5 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Dark amber color. Sweet caramelly and resiny. Sweet soft caramel taste with some pine resin, nuts, toffee, prunes, raisins and warming alcohol. Bittersweet finish. Smooth palate. Tasty and well made beer although there is more caramel than I would like.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2014 Bottle, 200th English rating. Pours amber with a nice, beige head that lasts a long while. Aroma is fairly light with caramel, some orange marmalade. Taste is Fuller’s orange marmalade, caramel, fairly light. The herbal hit in the finish is rather a surprise that sets this one apart from the other Fuller’s strong ales. Full with decent carbonation.

Bottle.e Aroma is caramel, stale, very average. Slightly soapy, metallic. Clear deep amber colour. Taste is rather sweet, caramel, honeyish, with a very stale hoppiness. At least alcohol is hidden well. This failed to impress me in any way.

It says ruby on the label and that’s a good reflection of the truth. Ruby to polished mahogany in colour with a skim of head and evident sparkle. Very rich aroma of plums, figs and steamed pudding. There’s some amber resinous quality and ripe autumnal fruits as well. It really is a complex aroma. A sweet, oily body and elegant flavours. Just a suggestion of bitterness but long finishing because of the mass of malty flavours. Indeed, malt is the superstar and begs for me to have more of this.
