Light, smooth, and refreshing, Summer Ale is pale gold in colour, and at 3.9% alcohol by volume, an excellent quaffing ale. It delivers a flavour most lagers can only dream of, thanks to its all-malt brew (containing malted wheat), and 100% Saaz hops, a Czech variety found in the best pilseners. Like Organic Honey Dew, it should always be served chilled.

Pretty bland, similar to Wild River. Light on everything with very little aroma or flavor.

2 pints of cask at the Counting House. The first was excellent, but if I was being picky, just a bit too warm. A good mouthfeel, but there seemed to be more flavour of corn than I remember from previous years. The second tasted a bit weird, but not enough to send it back. It was good, but that corn flavour really started to grate and I was keen to move onto another beer by the end of the second pint. My annual Fullers Summer Ale box has been ticked and it isn’t as good as I remember from previous years.

Cask @ Red Lion, Mayfair, London. Golden with no head. Light and hoppy with a sticky-sweet texture.

Handpull cask at the brewery. Light gold, clear with very little head. Strong honey, hint of lemon, strong sulphur notes. Sweet taste with a bitter note. Slight doughy sourness on the finish. Basic sessionable golden ale, very refreshing and grows on me, but not the best of Fuller’s beers.

hohops (998) - Kent, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2016
Appearance is clear and orangey golden, with a small foamy head. Fruity hoppy aroma with citrus hints. Taste is citrus fruit, hops, summer fruit. Refreshing.

Clear deep golden color, small white head. Honeyish nose. Light-bodied. A bit honeyish maltyness, leafy hops. Easy, too easy.

Cask at the brewery. Light honey pour, faint sweetness - only a hint... Mild hops. it’s pretty damn bland overall. What a bore.

Cask @ Akkurat. Hazy golden small short lasting white head leaving weak lacing. Sweet aroma, honey and grass. Watery light mouthfeel. Grassy taste but very watery, sweet bread and honey notes.

Pint in the local. Very bland aroma - lightly citrus with some hay and caramel. Sweet and flat on the palate.

Cimbasso (892) - - JUN 17, 2016
Sampled on draught at The Scarsdale Tavern, Kensington. A light gold colour with a white head. Aroma of sweet malts. The taste is pleasantly malty with hints of honey. Light and very easy to drink, with light bitterness. More taste than a lager, but with some of the same qualities. Good summer drinking.

Martinus (4601) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - OCT 20, 2015
Clear golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, vegetables, root vegetables. Malty flavour, light bitter hops, butter. Bitter finish, fudge.
(from draught @ GBBF ’14, London)
