(Bottle) Pours a lightly cloudy amber with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, and toffee (quite similar to the 1997 vintage). Flavor of malt and caramel. Thanks for sharing Walt! tiggmtl (4543) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 19, 2005
Waffles topped with vanilla ice cream and lavender floral tones, with some port-like alcoholic sweetness in the uniquely appealing aroma. Opaque brown-tan with a fine-bubbled partial cover of creamy off-white head that leaves some sudsy lacing. Vinous, thick, port-like, bready, earthy, floral, chocolate and marzipan flavours with some mild dark fruit character. Gentle finishing bitterness. Medium body with soft carbonation and creamy texture. Seems like seven years is the sweet-spot for this one! Bottle (#31675) enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, MartinT, Olivier_MTL, Rastacouere and Yowie. awaisanen (1310) - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 4, 2006
Pours a slightly murky color of ruddy amber with a full layer of creamy beige head. Fruity aroma thats saturated with an incense of strawberry sorbet, and sherried raisins. Fantastic sweetened fruit sugars that melt together like a delicate whipping cream rather than a concentrated syrup. Medium bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel that shows absolutely no signs of unpleasant aging. Remarkable. There’s even a little British hops spice left to kiss the tongue at first contact. Reddish to dark fruity flavors that land somewhere between raisins and strawberries. A little brush of pepper spice tickles the tongue as well. Creamy flavors that remind me of a whipped strawberry yogurt without the lactic traits. A touch of brandy and a brush of toasted oak without the dryness. Some strawberry rhubarb pie, lacking sourness, and finishing with a final smack of hops and wood, making their presence known softly. Amazingly constructed brew. jayme9874 (756) - Hamburg, New York, USA - NOV 9, 2001
Clear, deep amber.Decent head and lace. Sweet scottish like malt toasty nose. Full bodied, thick, syrupy and sweet mouthfeel, toffee and caramel palate, maybe a biscuity/toasty character as well...damn tasty and smooth. Alcohol hits and then warms the stomach. Disgustingly drinkable, wish i knew the alcohol content. I havent had it in awhile, but this reminds me of Anchor Foghorn. Fruity tones are more evident as the beer warms a bit and the beer clouds up after you get all the goodies from the bottom..strong and satisfying. Cloudy, amber body with eggshell colored head. Smells english hops, dates, plums and squash big, sweet, complex and malty flavors. Yeast, grapes, alcohol, butterscotch, toffee all melding nicely on the tongue. Sampled from bottle# 53695 purchased at Toronado in San Francisco, CA. I just wish the Redskins would hurry up and make it into the playoffs so that I can next crack my '99 vintage I've been aging for over a year.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Very hazy brown pour. Nice strong aroma of dried fruit. Very nice fruity, caramelley, brown sugar flavor that covers the abv nicely. Hints of sweetness. Mouthfeel and carbonation are good as well. Nice beer that is very complex. thanks Dan LinusStick (3514) - Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 9, 2009
WOW! Thanks Paiste2002 for this rare gem! Can’t imagine what this would taste like fresh but this is a true testament to age a beer. This was DELICIOUS! Aroma was perfect; Strong caramel with a hint of caramel malt. Pour was a nice murky dark gold with a one finger off white head. Taste was like an alcoholic Sugar Daddy with a rich malty aftertaste. I don’t have the patience to age a beer for over a year, but this beer has made me turn a corner. Thanks, Paiste2002! paiste2002 (186) - Saugus, California, USA - FEB 16, 2009
Pours hazy copper with a smallish off white head. Aroma is caramel maltiness, bread, dark fruit and a hint of alcohol. Flavor is big time caramel, malt, raisin and a hint of earthy spice. Finish is smooth rounded with hints of alcohol.
My last bottle, this one aged very nice.
