The Champion theme was used once again for this classic Vintage Ale with Champion Fuggles and Champion Optic malt. Slightly redder in appearance, this ale is full of body with a sherry-like flavour.

Nice hoppiness in the aroma. Malt and hops are nicely balanced in the body. This beer is not as big as I expected it to be.

A nice slightly oxidized hop and alcohol nose. Pleasant warmth with a balanced maltiness. Can’t wait to see how the others age!

Absolutely fantastic. Very strong alcohol aroma upon opening, not nearly as overwhelming in the taste. I find the scotch qualities quite enjoyable. Very well malt balance. I’m so glad I have another bottle.

Yeah, it was great and all, but didn’t seem all that different from the Fuller’s 2001!

Sweet malt nose with some toffee-like aromas. Smooth malt start, full complex middle, just enough bitterness to balance the ’maltiness’. Smooth finish with some very predominate alcoholic warmth (good stuff) looking forward to tasting 2000 & 2001 with the SpyDog!

Toffee tasting with a welcome alcoholic bite. Someone said butterscotch flavor and I would have to agree. Full body. Cool packaging. Soon will try the 2000 and 2001.

WOW! What a good beer. This beer was full of flavor but at the same time wasnt overpowering. Looked beautiful, tasted beautiful....full of fruits and malt...good freakin beer! Me and the bro accidentally found this at a bar in Houston....oops!

Unreal. My bro and I are visiting our mother for the weekend, we go to Gingerman in Houston, and they have this stuff!! What a nice surprise. It came in a very elegant box and was quite nice, especially as it warmed up. Exquisite maltiness, the sweet tastes were great as the caramel lingered into the end. Wonderful! And so, this concludes the story of how I had ratebeer’s #1 and #2 beers in less than 24 hours.

Very fine aroma of hops, caramel, butterscotch. Flavor follows w. the same, full of malt, toffee and butterscotch, yet also fruity. Finishes with a nice note of bitterness. Clean, sweet, rich, excellent overall.

Yep, damned near perfect. Sweet, almost rum-like nose. Extraordinarily smooooooth flavor--sweet, but not cloying, with notes of caramel and cream or butter. A real ’desert island’ brew.
