550 ml brown bottle, 8.5% Vol, bottle conditioned no 06235. I’ve had this in storage for over a year, saving it for my 50th rating. Since it was a hot summer day I treated it to five minutes in my electric beer chiller aka wine cooler. Poured a wonderful rich ruby bronze. Golden head which doesn’t last & no lacing. Who cares? Liqueur brandy, chocolate cream& toffee, roasted rich fruit cake aroma. The flavour is difficult to put into words. The first sweet butter cream hit, the subtle alcohol coming through with succulent berry& chocolate theme. Perfect mouthfeel with long satisfying finish Master Brewer Keeling is a Artiste. This is the best beer I have ever tasted. Who needs wine & liqueurs? I’ve got two more 1999s & twp 2000s. Roll on the next special occasion. OStreetBrewery (120) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 26, 2008
Pours a murky amber with a healthy white head. Aroma features a heady complex mix of stone fruit, particularly apricot, orange fruit, nutty chewy malt, barley sugar and a hint of fortified wine.
On the palate there is a velvety smooth mouthfeel, nutty rich malt, reminiscent of Tom Hardy’s, dry barley sugar, orange fruit, a hint of warm Xmas cake spice all leading to an incredibly rounded smooth finish. Knock out beer! FUNK (120) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 20, 2002
Got this years vintage and i wasn't disappointed. Very, Very good!.......... bbooth (115) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - APR 26, 2002
Sweet malt nose with some toffee-like aromas. Smooth malt start, full complex middle, just enough bitterness to balance the 'maltiness'. Smooth finish with some very predominate alcoholic warmth (good stuff) looking forward to tasting 2000 & 2001 with the SpyDog! oli (108) - DENMARK - FEB 15, 2004

I opened up the box on a whim (it had been in storage for about 5 years). Saw the back of the bottle which said "Best Before End 2002". I then sighed in disappointment and continued to open the bottle since it was "bad" anyways. I took one sip and was blown away. It tastes fairly potent but not overpowering. Unbelievable aftertaste that definitely has a mellow caramel hint to it that fortunately won’t go away. I kind of wish I had shared it with someone, but not really...... Toffee tasting with a welcome alcoholic bite. Someone said butterscotch flavor and I would have to agree. Full body. Cool packaging. Soon will try the 2000 and 2001. ucsbdude (68) - Santa Barbara, California, USA - DEC 4, 2002
Deep amber color. Sweet malty flavor with hints of toffee, caramel and cherry. Suprisingly easy to drink. A great beer
