Bottle, 55cl. Bottle # 04479. It pours a clear, copper colored body under a half finger thick beige head leaving lacings. Caramel and some oxidation in the aroma, with hints of camphor. A pleasant dried fruit scent as well. There’s a pleasant bitterness to deal with the mostly malty flavor. Beef stock, caramel, some oxidation and dried fruits, and a little alcohol hint. Full-bodied, pleasantly carbonated and with a mostly bitter finish. Less complex than the 1999 bottle, but certainly nice anyway. 120106 Dedollewaitor (16158) - Odense, DENMARK - DEC 31, 2008
55cl bottle. Finally I got a reason to open this bottle. Pours amber/orange with a full creamy white head and lacings. Nose is sweet and vinous. Lots of port, dark fruits, caramel and sugar. Quite earthy, a bit mouldy/matured as well. Full , creamy and smooth body. Medium carbonation. Oily, slick and sticky. No. 64042. Aroma has toffee, notes of dark fruits, perhaps a bit of citrus, and it does seem dusty. Hazy orange amber color with a beige head that didn’t last long. Full bodied with fine, almost fizzy, carbonation. The flavor is bread, toffee, light fruits, dark fruits, and a bit of roasted malt. Although it drinks just a bit sweet, after the liquid is gone it finishes rather astringent and dry. Has an interesting drying effect on the mouth. The hop seems to have mellowed out, but there’s enough to balance. Even seems to have a bit of wood as the event proceeds. It has certainly aged quite well. Shame. My last one. Bottle at Chriso’s Fullers-Gales Tasting (thanks to Chris). It pours clear deep amber, with a thick beige head. The nose is initially of sweet caramel, toffee, spice, pepper and gingerbread, but the longer I smell the more mould and damp old wood there is. The taste is sweet caramel, golden-syrup, wood, leather, melon, pear, cardboard and mouldy mustiness, with a dry, alcoholic finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Bottled, 500ml, no. 28,655 from Sainsbury’s in Banbury. Reddish copper with white head. Full, fruity beer, there is a sweetish toffee background then a mixture of dried fruity notes to the fore, prunes, sultana’s in addition a hazelnut note lingers on the palate. (Bottle No. 49914): Huge beige head atop a slightly hazy copper body. Aroma is strongly malty -- sweet, caramel, raisin, nutty, toasty. Taste is sweet, caramel, scotch, raisin, earthy. Finish is scotch warming. Full body. Could still use a bit of aging, but even at this point it's a very nice beer.
