Bottle Conditioned.
Only 30,000 bottles were produced. Maris Otter malt and Goldings hops. The first year that all the ingredients were standard rather than champion.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2003 No. 21054 This Ale is not very unlike Tuppers hop pocket ale. Very nice, hoppy aroma. The taste is very hoppy and the aftertaste aswell. The hops were very dominating.

Bottle 07572: Clear copper ruby color with a tan lacy head. Thick caramel and lightly spiced aromas abound. Very smooth and crisp with good balance. Thick syrupy sweet body with notes of oak. Hides its alcohol pretty well but still has a warming effect. A very good strong ale and almost in the same boat as the vintage '99 I had two months ago.

This year is going to be a winner after another three years in the celler. Strong start, Warming on the tongue and in the tummy. A little rough in the middle and a drop off on the finish. All this is going to improve with age. The aroma alone is worth the price on the bottle. I am going to keep a couple in the fridge and a couple at cellar temp and report back on which came out best.

No. 935. Red copper color, a bit hazy. Small sustained head. Hops and blackcurrant aroma. Full bodied. Sweet flavor, very fruity (pear, blackcurrant, mango, banana). Fruity, hopbitter finish with lots of oak. Very complex and delicious ale. Could gain extra complexity with some further cellaring.

Opened #2246. WOW!!! First aroma I got was a hint of whiskey. A second sniff was malt. Appearance is an orange amber with good carbonation and a thin long lasting head. Lots of flavors here. I first got a sweet raisin taste, then the hops then the bitter. Aftertaste was good, very subtle and enjoyable. It left my lips a bit sticky and warmed me up all the way down. I currently have one more bottle I will let age for another year or so, and plan on buying more as I have access to about 20 more bottles. I reccomend this one. It's worth the $6.99 I paid for it .

2003: Cloudy dark orange color. Nose is raisins, very malty with alcohol making itself known and a light chocolate presence at the end. Body is thick with malt and hoppy at the end, but not developing that nicely yet. Tasted this beside 99 and 00, definitely needs some age to live up to it's cousins.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 The bottle was numbered No. 02245. Nice hoppy aroma. When poured, it yielded a medium head of medium sized white bubbles and a golden brown transparent color. As the head receded, it left behind a nice lacing that slowly followed the head down the side of the glass. This brew has an initial bite that lasts through the taste and well into the aftertaste. Not as smooth as I like. But I bet after a while I will feel the alcohol content in this brew.

No 09216. Copper ale, white head. All this combination looked pretty attractive. Highly aromatic and complex aroma but it was missing something to be great. Deep, spicy, earthy flavour.

Hazy orange-copper w/ beige head. Port/sherry nose w/ some fruit & caramel. Full bodied & chewy. Flavour was vinous & fruity w/ a decently bitter, dry finish. Sampled in 2003
