Bottle, courtesy of yngwie. Pours deep golden with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, biscuits, mint and fruitiness.Flavor is sweet and malty with some warmth, carame, spices, sherry and fruitiness.Medium body, average carbonation. Nice beer. chriso (7533) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 20, 2004
Bottled at the White Horse, Parsons Green. The colour was somewhat difficult to gauge as the pub was so crowded that we had to sit outside in the dark. The aroma didnít augur well. Malt dominates, but it has a very distinct cereal character and sweetness, that I didnít find very appealing. However, all was redeemed on the palate. Thereís plenty of malty sweetness, but a good dollop of spicy hops counterbalance that nicely. Rich, complex, fruit cake flavours put in an appearance too. Long, dried fruit finish, with the hops lasting the distance. Definitely a beer of two halves. Overall, good, but not outstanding.

Small offwhite head. Hazy amber body. Caramelly (very!) musty earthy aroma with old books notes. Dry-sweetish wooden caramelly taste with old books and linoleum notes. Mild rounded, smooth mouthfeel. Fullish body. Dry wooden old blanket and paper aftertaste with sugary sherry mint notes. Some sharpish hops in aftertaste. Absolutely outstanding! (0.5l bottle, shared by KnutAlbert.) Bottle thanks to Marsiblursi!! This beer was just exceptional! Poured a clear, deeper coppery-orange with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up deep, toasted caramel, bready notes, toffee, and drier floral hoppage.. bit of an uptake on the back with more lovely dried floral notes.. soft, inviting, and well-aged. The flavor had slight sour oxidation notes and dark fruits upfront with mild floral and citrusy bitterness.. sweet candied caramel with more fruit across the middle and back-end, accented by light, but complimentary bitterness.. sweet and tasty! Sweet, medium-bodied, and well-balanced on the palate.. wish I had another! Sledutah (7490) - Utah, USA - MAR 17, 2013

(Bottle at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-08-29) Ruby red and clear. Small white head. Raisin, malts and dried plum in taste. Full bodied and very dry palate with medium carbonation. Malts, raisin, dried plum, lightly roastedness, bitterness and choclate in taste. Malty aftertaste. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 25, 2007
Pours a hazy dark copper with a thin ring of light tan head. Aged toasted caramel malty aroma has a touch of light fruits and brown sugar. Body starts fairly sweet and full with nice caramel sugar notes along with mild strawberries and dough. Seems to have aged pretty well and goes down smooth, hiding the alcohol. caesar (7099) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - OCT 28, 2007
Bottled. Slight hazy orange, short frothy head. Aroma of apricot, tea, roasted malt, toffee, caramel, molasses, slight hint of smoke. Malty taste, toffee, slight chocolat, slight alcohol burn. Reminds me of a Harvest Ale. Strong taste. KnutAlbert (6754) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 15, 2010
Bottle from the Fullerís shop.
Vinous. Malty aroma with some caramel.
Toffee, grain and cereals, round and smooth. The sweetne4ss of the beer and the alcohol combine to make a round and full aroma. Some sharp hops in the tail. ekstedt (6708) - GŲteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 20, 2007
Somehow dissapointing after having tried vintages 1999 & 2004 & 2005. A little disturbing burnt taste. Yeast particles which I havenít seen before. Still quite good.
