Crosling (1864) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 3, 2004
Sampled at the White Horse in London, England.
Enticing aroma. Notes of grapefruit, lemon, apricot, vanilla and caramel.
Full-bodied and flavorful but hot down the throat and the cloying syrupy sweetness was just too much. Notes of apricot, tea, tangerine, wood and orange. The hops were nice and sought to balance but failed. ekstedt (6790) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 20, 2007
Somehow dissapointing after having tried vintages 1999 & 2004 & 2005. A little disturbing burnt taste. Yeast particles which I haven’t seen before. Still quite good. Hansen (8595) - Assentoft, DENMARK - DEC 30, 2006
Dark, amber colour, unclear, murky. Has a creamy, mostly lasting head, light brown. Aroma of port, tqwny and butter. Flavor is heavy sweet. yespr (45508) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - MAY 2, 2008

This seems to be aging quite well.. . loads of toffee and caramel, with a big oily biscuit aftertaste . .. do you wanna eat my fat? i think you know the answer to that .. . The theonly nagative is the mouth is going a bit, thinning out if you will .. It is what it is, ..folks!

Bottle.Muddy brown appearance and left some sediment.Medium body with a lot of sweetness that lingered for a long while. Tried nine years after it was released and it hasn’t aged well. Not one of their good years. fro2218 (471) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 3, 2007
Sampled in 2006. AMber in color. Caramel and honey. A little sweet and fairly viscous. omhper (25148) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAR 7, 2011
Bottled. Hazy brownish amber, small head. Caramelly nose. Sweet and full bodied. Caramel wrapped in resin, notes of white pepper and a beginning touch of cardboard. Mild resiny bitterness. BeerCast_Rich (1906) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 18, 2011
[550ml bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk] Hazy red pour with a fluffy white head. Fruity nose, very mellow. Sweet fruit cake and marzipan, although there’s an undercurrent of harshness throughout. I’d heard amazing things about this – indeed I’ve written amazing things about the 1999 vintage. This one was nice, but a tad muted. Maybe it just hasn’t aged well – could be one of those things madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - MAY 6, 2012

Cloudy amber - red - brown beer. Short lived tan head. Good carbonation. Sweetish aged malt nose. Neutral palate. Sweet aged malt, smooth and creamy. Initially this tastes a bit tired but patience brings out some pleasant toffee caramel and generic fruit. Finishes semi dry and still with alcohol warmth after 7 years.
