Bottle Conditioned.
50,000 bottles were brewed using a traditional recipe of Target, Challenger and Northdown hop varieties. The taste is rich with notes of marmalade, raisins and Christmas cake; the spicy hops well balanced with a pleasant bitterness.

Papsoe (25060) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 20, 2006
(Bottle 50 cl) Bottle # 31444. Slightly hazy, dark amber with a dense, light brown head. Very concentrated sherry aroma. Full-bodied, lightly sweet body with some overripe fruit, apricots and light notes of sherry - sherry vats perhaps. Quite some warming alcohol in the finish. Excellent. 201206

Ungstrup (38138) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - DEC 20, 2006
A dark amber beer with a thick orange head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of prunes, but also over ripe fruits, and hints of wood. The flavor is very sweet and very complex with notes of fruit, prunes, and wood, as well as light notes of alcohol. Leading to a dry citrusy bitter end.

Bottle from the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Places/ShowPlace.asp? target=blank>Fuller’s Brewery in London, England in May 2005. Bottle #15901. Rich copper colour, long lasting beige head, cool puffy lace. The aroma was sweet, lots of caramel malts, christmas cake, fruit cake, apples, some floral hops and small amounts of alcohol. The flavour had some hops (pine mainly), lots of sweet caramel malts, cookies, the alcohol is starting to disappear with this vintage. Dry mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a lingering medium bitterness, slightly dry. Nice.

Tea-like tannins underscore floral, citrus hops. Clear copper coloured body with low white head that recedes to ring. Tannin-full, toffee, caramel flavour with light fruitiness and moderate bitterness. Medium-full sticky body with fairly fizzy carbonation. Bottle sampled at RBESG 2005.

Reddish brown colour with an off white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel hints and a light fruityness. Nutty caramel flavor with a fairly dry finish.

nigos (631) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2005
Tasted: Jan 2005 - Bottle No. 54315. Deep mahogany hue with a decent off white head. Pronounced fruity aroma with hints of fig. Rich sweetish flavour with a sappy raisiny fruit body. A little too early to drink I feel. Need more age to get the best of those complex flavours.

3.8
Emil (6065) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 23, 2005
Red brown colour with a big off-white head. Malty fruity caramel aroma and a sweet dry malty fruity light hoppy taste. Medium to full body and a sweet light alcoholic finish.

Bottle at RBESG Grand Tasting 05. One that I actually took along! Very smooth, tasty indeed - some Barley Wine flavours, but palatable. Strong finish - very tasty. Superb balance. Excellent, though I’d still like to try it aged in a year or two.

3.7

Bottled at RBESG 2005. Hazy brown coloured with an off white head. Sweet aroma of dried fruits and marzipan. Sweet flavour of dried fruits with notes of marzipan.
