Bottled. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is raisins, malts and alcohol with mild touches of vanilla and wood. Flavour is quite sharp alcohol, grass, raisins, sweet malts, hops and some wooden and vanillaish notes. Rune (13186) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 25, 2009
500ml bottle, No. 51280, many thanks to Richard for sharing. Pours an orange-amber coloured body, partly cloudy and with a tiny, but lasting, filmy layer on the surface. Smooth aroma of dried fruits and sweet malts. Rich, blended flavour of dried apricots, plums, raisins and prunes on a backbone of soft tartness. Discreet hints of yeast. Long-lived, bittersweet tail. Rounded and soft in the mouth. A tasty drink for very special occasions (dinner party, Tromsdalen 24.10.2009). imdownthepub (14955) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 26, 2010
Bottle conditioned, 500ml, No. 04341. Chestnut with beige head. Super beer, smooth, malty and port like, warming on a cold night with tints of alcohol. The hops are still present in a peppery like note. Great stuff.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2004 Tasted as part of a vertical tasting that included the ’98, ’99, ’00, ’01 and ’03 (thanks Eyedrinkale!). Bottle # 14765. Poured a medium amber color with a small tan head (clearest and lightest color of the 5 vintages). Aromas and tastes of caramel, toffee, raisins and plums. Aromas and tastes on the lighter side compared to the ’00 & ’01. Spicy finish. This one needed to age a little more (but I’m glad to have compared the tastes across the different years!). Bottle 14999. Thanks to Spiesy for getting me this last year. Enjoyed at room temperature. Pours a deep amber with bits of red. Large beige head. Very big malty aroma, raisins, prunes. Taste is a little hot from the alcohol. I wanted to save this for a few years but didn’t. Perhaps the alcohol would have toned down a bit. Sweet initially followed by a mildly bitter finish. Taste is dark fruity. Still a very good drink. Walt (2449) - Austin, Texas, USA - JAN 25, 2005
Poured hazy amber with thin tan head...smell is smoked meat and greasy...all around sweet followed up with a mild bitterness...alcohol was a little more apparent in this... berkshirejohn (6588) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 5, 2008
