Un-Muzzling Olde Muzzlehatch Ratings, #7. No idea where I got this bottle but I’m fairly sure I got it new and thus had had it for 4-5 years when I sampled it, from a Maudite glass, on January 14, 2009. It poured a tawny, translucent copper-brick with a reasonably sizable, lasting bit of off-white head, nice lacing and there was a significant "pop" to bottle when opened; it had held up well. On the nose it’s caramel, sweet-tart cherry juice, a bit of licorice and vanilla in a fine, well-balanced nose that in the end reminds one of sherry most of all...loads of that tarry licorice character on the tongue, some smoky/burnt notes, and a caramel-molasses sweetness that carries through to the strong, full-bodied finish, with the alcohol pretty muted, and still a quite vibrant overall mouthfeel and presence. Perhaps a bit too much of the burnt notes, but otherwise excellent and I felt at the time that this could hold up a few more years. Pity I don’t believe I have any more Fuller’s Vintage of any years at the moment, sigh. ciocanelu (2957) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - MAY 28, 2016

500ml bottle. Bottle No 29761. Pours a murky chestnut brown colour with a white foam head leaving some lacing. Aroma of malt, fruitcake, sherry. Taste is malty, sweetish, with toffee, fruitcake, raisins, dark fruits, plum and some earthy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry earthy warm finish. Nicely drinkable. minutemat (6063) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2015
330ml bottle tasting alongside a 2006 @ 12th Shrewsbury Bottle Share, April 15, courtesy of Mike. Boozy fruitcake nose with liquorice, plums and leathery CAMRA sandals on the palette. Found the ’06 a little more drinkable tho. BlackHaddock (7696) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2015
Shared bottle (#43368) with a 2006 by it’s side on 28th April 2015 at a Shrewsbury Bottle Swap Group Meeting (five of us). Not a lot of head on the brown body, but plenty of condition left in the beer. Fruity flavour and aroma, Victoria plums being the main fruit for me. Smooth, mellow and sweeter than the 2006 version. I really enjoy these Vintage bottles from Fullers, hope to try as many as possible (I have a couple aging). AndySnow (8119) - Huddinge, SWEDEN - MAR 22, 2015
How: Bottle, vertical with 2014 version.omhper (25753) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAR 21, 2015
Where: Tasting at omhper.
Appearance: Clear brown colour with no head.
Aroma: Dried fruit, raisin, cellar, caramel.
Body: Medium body, flat carbonation.
Flavour: Dried fruit, raising, caramel.
Bottled, thanks Boudicca! Vertical with 2014. Darker amber than 2014, small head. Dusted ripe fruit and caramel dominate the nose. Caramel and slight cardboard, mature ripe fruits. Some brown sugar and raisins, notes of hay. Low-medium bitterness. The hop character is all gone. Over the edge, I’m afraid.
