Bottled, thanks Boudicca! Vertical with 2014. Darker amber than 2014, small head. Dusted ripe fruit and caramel dominate the nose. Caramel and slight cardboard, mature ripe fruits. Some brown sugar and raisins, notes of hay. Low-medium bitterness. The hop character is all gone. Over the edge, I’m afraid. madmitch76 (25344) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 15, 2009
4th August 2008. Bottle 94057. Very complex aged ale. Caramel dominates the start but there is also a nice sherry flavour. A little milk chocolate in the mid plus red fruit you would find in a decent vintage port. Sumptuous and tasty. Papsoe (25059) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 7, 2007
(Bottle 50 cl) Bottle #34629. Pours a hazy, nutty brown with a small, off-white head leaving some lacework. Aroma of prunes and overripe fruit. Quite full-bodied with lots of dried fruit accents - prunes in particular. The alcohol is extremely prominent in the finish also suffering from a somewhat brutal bitterness making this version less round and subtle than previous vintages. 020707 Leighton (22051) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 8, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 17, 2013 Bottle at Caspar’s Running Toilet Tasting. Pours clear, amber-red with a soft, white head. Nice, aged caramel nose, very slight oxidation present, dark malts, mild leather. Great flavor, lots of toasty sugar. A bit more of a ballsy flavor than the 2005. Nice rich fruits, light licorice, cake. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, notes of candied fruits, faint spice, mild alcohol, light toffee. Very solid. (4.2)
