COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A classic Vintage Ale with an aroma which incorporates spicy hop notes with rich fruit character and leads on to a very full malty, fruity, sweet palate which has a surprisingly clean finish coupled with a matching bitterness.
I have handcrafted this beer from the finest Fuggles, Target and Super Styrian hops, Maris Otter malted barley and of course, our unique yeast to create a truly extraordinary unique brew. - John Keeling, Brewmaster

(Stockholm Beer Festival 2007) Cask. Golden/amber color, small head. Yeasty, malty fruity aroma with raisins and some figs. Vinous malty flavor, raisins, sweet fruitsd and some bitter notes. Good beer and this will of course improve with time.

Dark copper brown color, no head. Cellary oaky aroma - not very strong. Alcoholic, fruity, bitterish. Raw, earthy brew, not as sweet as 2006 edition.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2015 Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2008) Fruit cake, woody, moist pipe tobacco. Sweet sticky malty body, apple pie and raisins, spicy and warming. Very young, I expect an old one to be more sophisticated.

Beautiful raisiny aroma, super mellow palate, taste super mellow. Woh - this is utterly amazing. It wafts around the mouth beautifully. Lovely bitterness in the finish. The farty bottom of the bottle was even better. Yum!!!

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2012 Bottle, 50cl. Bottle # 18172. A dark golden beer topped by a small, beige head. Alcohol, dried fruits, dark sugar and some honey hints on the nose. The flavor is lightly alcoholic and sugary, with a pleasant bitterness. Warming, full-bodied and nicely carbonated. A bit rough and sugary this one, but quite nice anyway. Rating: 6-3-7-4-13-3.3. 120106

Bottle. A slightly hazy, golden beer topped by a small off-white head. The aroma is a pleasant mix of fruity, peachy hops, port like alcohol notes and maltyness. There’s some caramel in the flavor, and a nice bitterness, else it’s much like the aroma. Full-bodied and warming, with a dry, bitter finish where there’s some roasted like notes. A lovely one. 100115

Bottle - Vertical 2005 to 2008 - Raisin, toffee and biscuit on the nose but also some alcohol. Cloudy brown with a tiny head. Brown sugar, raisin and the usual port suspects and some bitterness coming from the hops. The bitterness and alcohol give this one some harsh edges which I didn’t get from any others. I would let this sit another year.

50 cl bottle. Actually my first fullers vintage ale, though the rest of the bottles in the series is within my reach. Poured into my girlfriends "De Ranke" glass. Poured amber/copper with a creamy off white head. Wonderfull aroma of dark malts, caramel, alcohol and quite a bit of hops. Low carbonation & a medium (full bodied) filling smooth body/texture. Overall good balance, not as sweet as expected and a lot more hoppier than expected (Fresh hops). Light warmth from alcohol. Sticky palate. Perhaps a "sipper style of beer", but I could drink this all night! Dope! Cant wait to taste the rest!

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy copper amber color with a medium creamy off white head. The aroma is a dark fruits, caramel and sweet malt. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. The taste is a bitter malt with caramel and yeast. A very good english strong ale from Fullers.

Bottle at Chriso’s Fullers-Gales Tasting (thanks to Chris). It pours clear amber, with a thin off-white head. The nose is sweet tinned fruit - nectarine, melon, orange and pear and some fruit cake. The taste is sweet tinned fruit, wood, leather, spice, dust and sherry, with a dry, warming finish. Some decent bitterness there too. Full body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Good balance. If you have one of these, drink it now!

Bottle at EBF08. Vinous aroma. Cloudy reddish brown colour. The flavour is actually not that powerful, vinous with some alcohol.

No. 143619. Aromas of roasted malt and floral hop. Not bad for a green beer. Rich coppery amber color and a white head that went down immediately. Near medium body with creamy carbonation. Roasted caramel/toffee flavors, with a bit of heat and floral/grassy hop. Hints of cacao. Finish is dryish, floralish and delicious. Got one aside for a few years down the road - if I can hold off.
