COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A classic Vintage Ale with an aroma which incorporates spicy hop notes with rich fruit character and leads on to a very full malty, fruity, sweet palate which has a surprisingly clean finish coupled with a matching bitterness.
I have handcrafted this beer from the finest Fuggles, Target and Super Styrian hops, Maris Otter malted barley and of course, our unique yeast to create a truly extraordinary unique brew. - John Keeling, Brewmaster

Bottled, 500ml (no. 63156) from Sainsbury’s in Banbury. Orange amber with no head. This was flat unfortunately. Initially, malty, fruity, quite sweet, then it is overtaken with quite a spiced note, more pronounced than previous versions of this than I remember, quite peppery with a hint of curry powder. Because of the lack of condition there is no real finish to it, it’s over and you take the next sip. It’s ok, but certainly not the best vintage.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Vladimir. Clear amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, honey, some fruitiness, some oxidation and a bit of fruits. Sweet malty flavor, honey-ish, a bit biscuity and fruity. Finishes slightly drier and alcoholic. Medium-bodied.

Bottle #112945 from Party Town. Poured clear deep amber with a huge frothy light brown head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Good well balanced hop and malt aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Good well balanced flavor with a moderate balanced and small alcohol tone finish of moderate duration. Very good brew.

Slightly hazy amber with a firm and lasting off-white head. Rich malt aroma with fruity notes, some marmalade and a touch of grassy hops. Dry malty flavour with caramel and biscuit, and just enough hop bitterness for a perfect balance.

Bottle. Pours deep mahogany with a large, frothy, off-white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, cookie, nutty), average hops (perfume, flowers), light yeast (dough) with notes of apple, pear, date, and alcohol. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

bierkoning (13615) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - DEC 13, 2007
Bottle. Orange amber color, dense head. Salt, salmiac, flowery hops and dried fruit in the complex aroma. Firm flowery and earthy hopbitter flavor with salt, dried orange fruit and some malty sweetness. Salty hopbitter aftertaste. Thoroughly enjoyable.

500ml bottle, no.103822, bought at Fullers Brewery Bottle Shop, Chiswick last November. Served comfortably chilled in a tulip glass. Decent, bubbly, off-white head remaining as a layer on top of a slightly cloudy, orange-brown body. Fragile lacework. Smell of bread, almond and dried fruits. Blended taste profile of marmalade with apricots and oranges on a subdued, sherry-like backbone, as well as hints of earthy malts, mid sweet. Rich and rather fresh bittersweet finish. Well balanced and smooth. Enjoyed for an hour celebrating 17th May 2013 at home in Tromsø.

Bov (13219) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - FEB 1, 2008
courtesy of oh6gdx, bottle #91889 - pours a clear reddish-amber colour with a slightly beige head; aroma of caramel, red fruits and malt; nice flowery hoppiness; full-bodied, slightly sticky, lively palate, robust and slightly astringent bitterness; long and very bitter finish with more red fruits and malts and a light alcohol touch - definitely needs some ageing
