Hazy dark orange with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit - raisins especially - and alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and light bitter finish with warming alcohol. Soft and smooth. 081011 fiulijn (20516) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 6, 2009

Amber color, creamy head. Good malty aroma, grainy. Malt flavor and caramel, quite sweet, well balanced, richer than other recent vintages. Will try it again.
Herb würziger Antrunk, malzig, leicht nach Schokolade. Süßlich würzig, etwas brotig. Hell, etwas zuckrig, erdig. 9/13/12/12/12/12 Theydon_Bois (19546) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 17, 2012
Bottle @ Frank’s (Ramnuts) tasting - 06/11/12 #11879.
Pours a hazed light amber with a thin off white head.
Nose is toffee fudge, dates, prunes, dark fruits, sugars, little pinch of wood.
Taste very similar to nose, slightly tarte in the execution.
Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish.
Decent enough - but not a patch on some of the ’good’ exampls of the older vintages I’ve tried. rlgk (18850) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 28, 2011
AMber/orange color, nice lasting offwhite head. Malty aroma, citrus, hops, toffee, caramel and some brown sugar. Malty caramel flavor, alcohol, hops, sweet fruits, almond. Alcohol finish with caramel notes.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 500ml bottle from, you know what I can?t remember. Oh I remember St Albans BF 09 and bloody expensive it was too. A fiver I think. A maltier more syrupy offering for this vintage. Ok, so the younger vintages always are a bit syrupy and malty and take a bit of time to calm down, but the hops here are almost inconsequential. Almost lager pukey malts. Not a very good vintage to be honest. The 2006 you can get in the Barrow Boy and Banker in Borough is far superior to this year. Probably the worst year I?ve had. I?ve always liked this beer, but unless this is a duff bottle, then its the worst year so far. Bottle at Chriso FullersGales Tasting. A lot better. Some decent sweetness some peppery hops. Decent dryness saxo (18571) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - FEB 9, 2013
Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is ruby, dark amber. Aroma and taste are dried fruits, caramel, molasses, licorice notes, malt and hops. Nice and sweet finish. Full bodied. mcberko (17854) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 19, 2010
500mL bottle, pours cloudy dark orange with a beige head. Butterscotch jumps out on the nose, with brown sugar, light cocoa, and a cognac-like boozy sweetness. Flavour begins with the liqueur-like sweetness, with elements of butterscotch, brown sugar, and caramel malt following. Slight alcohol burn on the finish, with the butterscotch and slight cloying sweetness lingering. Very solid. TBone (17581) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 16, 2008
Clear copper color, good creamy beige head. Nutty-woody, whisky-barrel nose. Sticky-toffeish and sugary flavor with attacking alcohol and Challenger hops. Sweet and alcoholic aftertaste. Maybe mellows over the years, currently too sharp and kind of unbalanced. yngwie (17053) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - SEP 1, 2012
Bottle, 50cl. An unclear, golden-orange beer topped by a finger-thick off-white head. Sugary sweetness, alcohol, some hints of mint and a good dash of fruityness on the nose. Sugary sweet, lightly alcoholic flavor with a decent bitterness. Warming, full-bodied and with a pleasant level of carbonation. Warming, sweet and decently bitter finish. A bit on the sweet side this one, even for my sweet tooth. 120106
