Bottled (from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki). Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruity, wooden, toffeeish along with quite evident nuttyness and zest. Flavour is hoppy, nutty with some mild spices and licorice. Alcohol gives a huge sweet peak towards the finish. Aftertaste is raisins, mild alcohol, some flowery hops as well as spices. This already tastes very promising for cellaring. darkguardian (733) - Florida, USA - FEB 18, 2009
16oz bottle. Pours a clear amber with a mid sized long long lasting off white head that leaves great lacing. Very dense head. Gorgeous beer. Complex aroma of honey, hazelnut, raisins, caramel and citrus. Flavor is tons of caramel and vanilla up front going into a grassy hop middle with decent bitterness. Sweet honey notes with hints of raisins finish out leading to a lingering finish with slight bitterness and notes of caramel and vanilla. Terrific. Underated, and this beer will only get better with time. Gary (1999) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 16, 2009
Bottle number 49729:Oh shit , good shit. . .This years bottle felt aged and complex ,so felt as if it had a wiser head on its ass than just being a 2008 year old bottle...Alcoholic cherry ..spicy woody hoppiness .Earthy ,grainy malt ..interlocking to create something very cool to consume. Huge malt construction /Very good TheJestersBeer (2430) - SWEDEN - JUL 11, 2011
500ml bottle, No 78911.
Pours a brilliant, deep amber, with a frothy, white head.
The aroma is very complex - malt, caramel, hops, yeast, apricots, tobacco, leather, marzipan, alcohol, cherry pits, almonds, walnuts, Earl Grey tea, wood (!), spices.
Off-dry, full bodied, medium bitterness, fairly low CO2.
The taste is likewise complex - layers of malt and fruits, lovely yeast character, spicy hops, floral notes, apricots, marzipan, nuts of all sorts, almonds, warming alcohol.
In the finish, all the flavours intertwine wonderfully, and are backed up by a firm alcoholic warmth. This beer is beyond lovely, but will be even better a few years down the road. Excellent! (2011-07-11) Chiswick (159) - Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 23, 2011
Deep amber orange brown colour. Pours a creamy, smooth head with medium thickness. Aromascape is a bit hidden and shy, but it works well with the style. It consists of oak, alcohol, caramel, malts and bread, nuts, roasty scents, a hoppy floral side with a herby side-kick. A deep, musty, wooden overall scent with a hint of cream. The tastes really open up properly after you’ve tasted the beer. The taste is surprisingly smooth. The palate is very even and creamy and settles extremely well into your mouth. At the same time it manages to be musty and dusty, but them again, it feels very fresh and has a good flow. Through the taste the licorice really comes out. The tastes are subtle but strong. They don’t have a lot of attack, but the depth of the tastes is admirable. How the sourness washes the bitterness to the middle and finishes of with a nice tingly sweetness. This was the second best Vintage Ale of my life, coming right after the 2006 batch.

500 ml bottle into snifter; 2008 vintage, Bottle #113845. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep reddish copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, toffee, pear, apple, plum, raisin, fig, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, herbal, light pepper, light leather, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and fruity/earthy yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, raisin, plum, pear, apple, fig, brown sugar, brown bread, herbal, light pepper, light leather, and yeast earthiness. Zero bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, raisin, plum, pear, apple, fig, brown sugar, brown bread, herbal, light pepper, light leather, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic old ale! All around awesome complexity and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering. vidmidia (286) - Vila Velha, BRAZIL - FEB 16, 2015

Bottle (in NZ - cheers Carl). Pours a bright amber with a large foamy off white head. Caramal malt aroma - hints of aniseed and berries. And uncomplicated, but full fruity palate along with that caramal malt. Medium bitterness, but a fairly dry finish. Delicious. They certain know what they are doing when producing these Vintage Ales. Varje gång jag dricker ett sådant här öl ungt kan jag inte låta bli att tänka på hur det hade smakat om jag väntat fem-tio år. Trots det ett högt betyg. Kraftfullt, maltigt, stark och sött.
