COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vintage Ale is a truly distinguished bottle conditioned beer. Each vintage is a blend of that year’s finest malt and hops, creating a unique limited edition brew. Being bottle conditioned, it is after bottling that the flavours truly begin to develop, and continue to do so well beyond the best before date that we are obliged to state.

The 2009 Vintage features Kent grown Golding Hops and East Anglian Tipple malted barly. It has an intial aroma of rich Muscavado sugar followed by a brandied caramelised

Glowing amber with a beige head. Aroma has dried fruit, toffee, spices, alcohol. Luscious caramel sweetness with lots of dried fruit and oranges in an oily body. A little chocolate. Avoids being cloying with spicy and fruity bitterness. Maybe some wood in the dryish finish. Alcohol is much less prominent than Golden Pride, but some of the malt flavours are muted. Still pretty hoppy. I don’t regret opening it now but it’s got a while ahead of it.

Pours a ruby red/copper-ish color. Light beige head falls quickly. A bottle from ÁTVR bought 10. of August 2010. Many bottles still on shelf there, will buy another one and age it. Malty caramel aroma, hops not noticable in the nose. Full rich body, medium carbonation. Malty, roasty, hint of burnt caramel, oranges and a hint of spice. Alcohol in aftertaste, but not out of balance, finishes sweet. Will probably benefit from aging.

500ml Bottle (# 107252): Faint aroma of malt, caramel, and a hint of dark ripe fruit. Poured copper/amber in color with a small, off-white/tan head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Hazy. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of malt, caramel, slight wood, and slight honey. Medium body. Slick, then slightly dry texture. Soft carbonation. Malt, slight honey, and hint of wood finish is lightly dry. 8.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Bottle number 66026. Clear reddish orange, nice frothy cream coloured head. Aroma is sweet toffee, orange peel, subtle spice. Sweet with tawny port-like features of toffee, raisins, soft wood, subtle spices, orange peel bitterness. A little on the thin side for mouthfeel, and a little hot in the finish. as I’ve said with earlier vintages, I’m glad I bought some of this to lay down, as I believe it could use a little time.

Bottle shared by Craig, thanks man. Pours a copper color with a small white head. A sweet aroma of candies, some caramel and light port. The flavor is very raw and I’d say needs age; light sweet fruit, caramel, candies. A thin body. Still, it was good.
