COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
I have crafted the 2010 Vintage with the highest quality Tipple malted barley for the second year running. This ale’s main hop character is derived from traditional Golding and Fuggles hops and further enhanced with Dry Hopping, using a blend of the choicest Golding and Target hops. Coupled with the unique Fuller’s yeast strain we expect this beer to mature into another ’Classic’ Vintage! 125,000 bottles produced

Bottle from LCBO - bottle #32021. Drunk on January 2nd 2016 and reviewed on my personal Facebook page as part of a series of posts reviewing FVAs from 2004 to 2015 over the course of the Xmas and New Year holidays. Now transferring over notes for those that I’ve not yet reviewed on RB. Notes for this one: "Notes of dark toffee, cherry jam, almond biscuit, tart cranberries & spruce tips. If not for the year on the label, I wouldn’t guess it to be 5+ years old at all."

Sampled: 05/13/2013. Bottle-conditioned. Cloudy deep amber with orange highlights; off-white, thin, tan head that thins out very quickly to leave a ring around the top; no lace. Earthy and sugary aromas; a mixture of dark & light fruits; very floral. Some spice, hops, and alcohol coming through as well. Flavors arrive very nicely with fruity sweetness—pears, apples, plums, and grapes. The transition to the development is smooth, bringing creamy malts and mild, tangy hops. Finishes with the hops, and this time there’s a blend of peppery spice and alcohol. The finish is long and slow...the hops and the booze stay for quite a while. Once the beer warms up, the hops and booze stand out more and is present from beginning to end. At this point, yeast is more noticeable, which adds a sourdough/pumpernickel bread flavor to the finish. Medium-heavy body but is still very smooth; very little to no carbonation; bone dry finish. Overall, it’s a very complex ale that warrants a slow drinking session. This beer is demanding but is still approachable. None of the flavors are too bold that it will smack you in the face. Even though the beer really shows its strength once it warms up, it’s still not overwhelming. One of my all-time favorites!

Bottle from De Molen Beer Shop, shared with Elie & nutjes. Amber colour, white foam. Nose of caramel, varnish, plums. Rather bitter finish. Lacks a bit of complexity.

Wow - not bad in a 6 year vertical, though it did finish "last." Slight oxidation only. No hops to speak of. Sweet leaning malt driven brew. Mostly dark fruit and leather with maybe a little toffee and a warm finish.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2016 Amber color, beige head. Dark malts and caramel on the aroma. Taste has dried fruits like figs and dates and also some caramel. Smooth mouthfeel.

Flasche (Nr. 35342, 50 cl), 5 Jahre daheim gelagert. Fuller’s 1845 schmeckt mir wesentlich besser.

Bottle pint with batchnumber: 51734: Clear brown colored brew with an burned character and smoothly sweet bitter taste, hints of peaches, some caramel and spices.

Foggy burnt orange, no head. Aroma is cotton candy, caramel, peaches. Fruity and floral. Taste is more grainy than the aroma. More of a white wine thing going on too. Body is not too heavy. Might even want it heavier. A little hot. "Easier Drinking" than I expected - not what I would hope for with something like this.

Dark amber hazy with white head.

Aroma: toffee, spicy herbs, some roasted notes.
Taste: moderate sweet with some spicy hoppy bitterness.
Flavour: malt, bisquits, some earth, cheese, wood.
Grassy bitterness and some wet wood and earth in the aftertaste.

This is very good but below expectations.
