COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 2011 Vintage Ale, our 15th, is brewed with some of the finest of this year’s malt and hops. The malt grist includes a portion produced by Warminster maltings, from organic barley grown by Sir James Fuller on the Nestone Park Estate. This will be married with the choicest Goldings, Organic First Gold and award winning Sovereign hops, to produce a beer with a firm malt base, marmalade notes and a satisfying bitter finish. Individually packaged and numbered, this bottle is one of only one hundred and fifty thousand produced.

pivnizub (10619) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - DEC 31, 2014
Bottle: Hazy, amber coloured with an orangey sheen, mid-sized lacy beige head; dried fruits, Wood and vanilla plus a touch of alcohol in the nose; solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied and a bit tart; mild and warming traces of alcohol in the vinous-fruity and caramelly finish, some hoppy dryness in the aftertaste. Good, what else...

Sweet aroma. Sweet initial taste, then some hop bitterness to balance, then a sweet, well blended finish. Brown in color. Taste changes and gets better as it warms.

Bottle given as a gift for the birthday. Consumed in Belgian glass because there was no English option available. This is a very attractive looking ale...deep amber orange hue. Full finger of head that doesn?t seem to want to linger. Aroma seems boozy with dark, tart fruit coming to the forefront. Taste is also heavy on alcohol. Sweetness and malt lead the way. Almost a candy like effort. Bitterness is nowhere to be found. Warming alcohol at the finish. It?s a potent ale that is best sipped. Anxious to try the other annual varieties and see the comparison.

500 ml bottle. #086008. Courtesy of olio. The Grand Vintage Tasting.
Cloudy amber colour with a small off-white head. Sweet sugar, berry hops and sweet malt in the aroma. The flavour is alcohol, sweetness, dark fruits and more sweetness. Quite average Vintage Ale.

(Bottle) Amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Malty, fruity nose with notes of treacle-toffee, raisins, dried apricots, orange peel, rye bread, toffee, hints of nuts and some sweet oloroso sherry. Malty, fruity taste with toffee, raisins, apricots marmalade, orange peel, treacle, hints of blackberries and a certain citric bitterness in a finish with a slight alcohol glow. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Tasty and quite complex. Very nice.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2014 500ml bottle poured in a chalice. 2011 Vintage. Bottle #079190. A: Pours a beautiful deep amber color with a medium and creamy yellow head. Good retention and some nice lacings left. Nice bottle and appearance. Very "elegant" beer S: Very nice malty aroma followed by sweet caramel, honey, hints of dark fruits. End is citric, earthy and grassy by the hops T: Strong on caramel malts and toffee. Dark fruits and candy sugar. Sweet upfront but not overwhelming. English yeasts. Finish brings a moderate citrus hoppy bitterness, which is deliciously grassy and earthy too. It warms a bit due to the alcohol level M: Medium body and smooth carbonation. Creamy and bit molasses feel with a nice mild bitter finish O: An English classic. Very drinkable and enjoyable beer [ BA Review @ 2/10/2012 ]
