Medium head, dark amber and murky. Smells quince jam. Full malty body. Tastes fruit, quince, and a bit of alcohol. There is a slight sourness in the aftertaste though. Very good

Aroma: Medium dark fruits, plums, molasses. Medium-light sweet bread-crusts, vanilla. No hops. Light floral, sharpness, rum, alcohol. Appearance: Clear copper body. Small, off-white head, fair retention. Flavour: Medium molasses, medium-light banana bread, sweet bread-crust. Medium-high bitterness. Dry finish with lingering light molasses and light alcohol. Mouthfeel: Medium-light warming. Full body. Medium-low carbonation. Smooth. Overall: The beer is very molasses-y. Bitterness is good and warming is definitely there, but the beer misses a bit of complexity. 500 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Tanja! 17A. British Strong Ale

Clear amber pour with a sweet boozy pear liquor aroma. Taste follows nose with a watery mouth feel. Not bad.

Lovely clear amber with a beige cap. Aroma is full and a little boozy with cognac and Indian fudge, pears, sultana, ginger, cassia, white pepper. 8+ Creamy and soft until a big whack of alcohol intrudes. Moderately sweet, not all that heavy with still some Indian sweetmeat spicy notes in with the gentle bitterness.Has a lot going for it and is certainly not a staid drink or one that is all that much like previous vintages I’ve had, but too much overt alcohol - I would have expected that to fade by now if it was going to.

Pours nice amber with small white head with some lacing. Aroma is toasted, some earth, clove, sweet fruit esters, resin, molasses, toffee. Medium sweet, medium bitter, average long aftertaste, slightly salty. Body is medium to full, palate is oily, carbonation is soft. Very tasty and not too one-dimensional.

(No 020409.

WVHouseofBeer (1067) - West Virginia, USA - FEB 28, 2016
Pours a hazy copper color with a small white head. Aromas and flavors of caramel, figs, cherries, cinnamon and some alcohol. Smooth body with a slightly sweet and spicy finish. An elegant beer that probably could have spent a couple more years ageing in order to take away the alcohol bite, but nonetheless delicious.

Almost clear amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. A light malts sweetness, mild caramel and a touch of bitterish toffee. A nice cherry tang, mildly sour even. Dried fruits and mellow brandy. Pince of spice, something that tastes vaguely like cinnamon. Light finish. Plenty going on here. Tasty and interesting.

Bottle #108106. Pours a one-finger khaki head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Almost clear amber color, some floaties. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Light hoppy nose, favor is toasted malt and some hoppiness. Not as sweet and rich as previous versions. $10.95 for a 500ml bottle from Colonial Spirits
