Draught. Pours a near-black color with almost no head on it. Nose is quite filled with the bourbon from the aging process, and the roastiness you expect is hidden underneath that, but present. Taste is a tad boozy to me, but still smooth and quite roasty. Nice drink. bierenjoyer1 (103) - Illinois, USA - FEB 20, 2014
Bomber bottle from Peabody’s Wine and Beer, Boone, NC. Great stout and bourbon scents. Pours almost black with very nice tan foam that stays. Great bourbon barrel taste but not sweet which is nice and a good palate finish of bourbon stout. I really enjoy this beer and hope that can have it again. chandler0201 (650) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Black pour with small head which was oily and long lasting. Aroma of roasted malts, hints of chocolate and coffee. Flavor had hints of vanilla, the bourbon notes, as well as chocolate and coffee. Excellent beer and my favorite from this brewery by far. plinythederek (22) - North Carolina, USA - NOV 16, 2013
Had on tap at Fullsteam Brewery. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. The aroma has a strong hit of bourbon with lesser hints of vanilla and coffee. The bourbon comes out very strong within the first few seconds of a sip but then you get a smooth aftertaste of vanilla which makes it easy going down. The aftertaste is a very enjoyable mix of bourbon and vanilla. A very drinkable bourbon barrel imperial. emacgee (4674) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - NOV 21, 2011
Draught @ Sam’s Blue Light and The Pit. Opaque black pour. Head is dark tan and one finger thick. Lots of bourbon in the nose, some coffee and chocolate with hints of vanilla and cherry skin. Rich and roasty flavor with lots of vanillin and bourbon. Hints of alcohol and cherry. Medium body and a warming finish.

Draft at the brewery (from notes.) Deep black color, a soft, small, creamy head. Nice rich chocolate and black licorice flavors with a hint of bourbon. Spicy hops round out the flavor without coming on too strong. It’s not as complex as many barrel-aged imperial stouts, but goes down smoother than most. A very well made beer, and possibly my second favorite Fullsteam beer behind only the great Wanderlust. jtd6628 (362) - North Carolina, USA - NOV 23, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 25, 2011 Great stout. Appearance is like a black hole from which no light can escape, projecting only a stream of a light brown head and aromas of chocolate and a slight roastiness. You can barely taste the gravity of this black hole although it is obviously there. Taste of chocolate, vanilla, sweetness, and finishes like a dry whiskey to balance the sweetness. ucusty (2691) - raleigh, North Carolina, USA - MAY 20, 2012
Backlog. Tap at Sams. Dark pour with a beige head. Aroma is vanilla, bakers chocolate and roast. Nice barrel character. Coffee and roast. cobaink2 (670) - seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 25, 2013
Great right out of the gate. Lots of vanilla and bourbon. Star anise and slight nose if Bret somehow. Great balanced beer. Getbetter (1033) - East Palo Alto, California, USA - DEC 31, 2013
I cant tell if its meant to have this sour taste because it has an odd cherry taste besides that its creamy oil like texture chocolate stout. In which either way may be ok.
