Black pour with small head which was oily and long lasting. Aroma of roasted malts, hints of chocolate and coffee. Flavor had hints of vanilla, the bourbon notes, as well as chocolate and coffee. Excellent beer and my favorite from this brewery by far.

Bottle. Dark pour with tan head. Dark tones, light bourbon and sour(infected) notes. Flavor was soured, chocolate, roasted tones, not bad, just off. Iphonephan (7192) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - OCT 4, 2014
On draft at Trio in Kitty Hawk. Pours black with a thick tan head. Roasty nose. Flavors of licorice and chocolate. Slightly boozy finish. jackl (8297) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 25, 2014
Draft Sample @ Brewvival 2014. Deep brownish amber with a small head. Bourbon soaked wood dominates the nose. A bit of ink cartridge and roasted malt. Sort of strange apple flavor. Tastes a bit buggy. Roasted coffee beans and cocoa. A bit slick on the palate. Full body. Meh. tmoreau (4593) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JUL 2, 2014
Nearly a year as a cellared bomber, shared and poured to snifters with a black/brown hue, a persistent layer of brownish tan head foam, and streaks of lacing. The nose was some roastiness, but mainly a distinct, sour oak scent, which was mellowed by a touch of barrel induced vanilla, and further smoothed by some silky effervescence in the flavor. Medium bodied, hidden alcohol, and maybe some oxidation, but tasty in it’s own unusual way. More of a sour, Belgian Dark Strong Ale.

Good bottle/label. Deep coffee brown beer. Tangy, whiskey aroma, medium sweet and vinous. Winey, vanilla, tangy - not as roasty as expected. Efferevescent and warming. Thanks to someone at Proof for sharing. EricTeusink (700) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 3, 2014
Tasting with jrob21. Infected, but just slightly so. Caught a whiff of the infection as soon as the bottle popped. Scent is funky with hints of the the smoky chocolate. Flavor is sour, sweet, and roasty. Beer wasn’t bad, just not what I had hoped for. Would have been better off if infection had really taken hold. Uh oh looks like this might be infected. Here it goes either way. A little tinge of sour in the aroma and the finish is a touch funky as well. In between you get a touch of vanilla and milk chocolate roasty malt. Overshadowed by the sour unfortunately. Drake (14059) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 24, 2014
Kentucky Fried Charleston Trip Beer #91. Draft at Brewvival. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, vanilla and a bit of green apple. The taste is bourbon, roasted malts, stone fruit, chocolate. Medium bodied. bierenjoyer1 (103) - Illinois, USA - FEB 20, 2014
Bomber bottle from Peabody’s Wine and Beer, Boone, NC. Great stout and bourbon scents. Pours almost black with very nice tan foam that stays. Great bourbon barrel taste but not sweet which is nice and a good palate finish of bourbon stout. I really enjoy this beer and hope that can have it again.
