3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewery. A smooth, inoffensive IPA that’s very easy to drink. Rye notes come through in the aroma; I could’ve used some more hop bite. Not my first choice at Fullsteam, but nothing they make is bad, so...
Old rating. Smooth ipa. Orange color. Some pine and ryes notes. Not very bitter. Light and sessionable, chandler0201 (650) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 25, 2013
Orangish pour with large white head. Aroma of fresh citrus fruit and some malts. Lots of fruit in the flavor with mostly grapefruit that I detected. Hint of spiciness in the finish, not bad for style. HourGlass13 (909) - North Carolina, USA - JAN 2, 2013
This is a very smooth IPA. It’s a nice amber color and totally non offensive. Easy to drink, and great spicy rye flavor. freekyp (2235) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - DEC 30, 2012
Smooth creamy body for an IPA. More flavoring than buttering hops. A fine pairing with any pub grub. Aroma is minty but slightly muted. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - OCT 23, 2012
On tap at Fullsteam. Pours a moderate copper-amber. Nice head. Nose has a touch of rye spice along with some pine and citrus. Nothing too complex, but goes down relatively smooth. Could have used some more hop flavor. maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - OCT 8, 2012
Draught. Pours a clear amber color with a moderate white head. Little bit of rye in the nose, but not a strong smell. Hugely hoppy in the taste, but not much else to it. DukeBrewDevil (732) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - SEP 16, 2012
Growler. A touch of cloudiness in a copper body, medium white head. A peppery, crisply hopped brew with a clean finish. The rye and hops blend nicely to make a flavorful, drinkable IPA. I prefer a juicy hop in my IPA, but this was well made, and very solid. bmerz (741) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - AUG 10, 2012
Draught at Pool’s a few months ago. Dark yellow and slightly cloudy. It coated the glas with a sheet of lace! Not much aroma at all, just fresh clean grass with some floral hops, maybe, it is so thin. Flavor is fairly sweet bitter orange, grapefruit flavors. Bitter cool end. The MF is lxuriously thick, lively and long. That is its standout. emacgee (4676) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - JUN 7, 2012
On tap at the brewery and Milltown. I really enjoyed this one. Had a bit more weight/body to it than I would expect but that could have been from the rye. Reddish pour with a nice head. Nose is very interesting. If I am correct these were Apollo hops, not a varietal that I have much exposure to. Lots of fresh fruit in the nose, very juicy. Lightly peppery/spicy. Hint of sweetness in the flavor with lots fruit. Wouldn’t have expected this from Apollo. Its not intensely hoppy but has a very nice and distinguishable character.
