COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with North Carolina wheat and locally-farmed basil, our most popular summer beer is an ever-changing feast for the senses. Summer Basil evolves over its five-month season, as local basil matures and fermentation temperatures rise. The saison yeast loves our hot summers, responding with a full-on punch of peppery, vibrant flavors. It’s okay that this plow-to-pint beer doesn’t always taste the same. It’s a beautiful thing.
Availability: Summer, 22oz bombers at our tavern and select markets, including the Durham Farmer’s Market. 5% ABV.

APPEARANCE- extremely light color, and ’bright’ with turbidity. Little whisps of head, but it laces well. NOSE- smells more like a spicy beer (corriander or similar) than basil. FLAVOR- also doesn’t taste like basil, but it does taste very light, exhuberabt and summery. The more it warms and it washes the deliciousness from my prior beer down, I do get some hints of basil. NOTES- wasn’t sure what to expect from the name. It tastes very summery at first and gives way to some basil. It is subtle, and well done.

Very brilliant, very light straw colored pour. Not much head, but what is there is eggshell white. No lacing. Very nice basil note with some lemon notes. Taste is creamy bitter lemon. Dry.

Can. Pours mostly clear straw yellow. Aroma is basil, pislner and wheat malt, lemon zest, light spice, and faint banana. Flavor is dry and grassy with some basil and citrus notes, light bitterness, and a lingering grassy finish. Light body.

Tallboy can @ home, thanks to jcnielsen. Pours a very light yellow appearance with a white head. Aroma is quite floral / green herbal, a bit twangy, bubblegum, and peppery. Moderate plus sweetness, low bitterness. Lots of green herbs, basil, pineapple, and bubblegum. I wouldn’t drink this again.

I kinda wish this one were, I don’t know, basilier? Pretty sure that’s not a word, but you know what I mean. I mean, it’s there, but in the background. Still a very enjoyable beer...

Old rating. Straw, grassy saison body with a giant dose of basil. Light and drinkable but not very complex.

Out of a bottle drank outside at OBX. Atmosphere adds to this one! Delicious funk with some hints of basil. Really a good beer and different from the "normal" craft beer.

On draft. Pale yellow color with tiny bubbles. Grassy saison with a strong basil finish. Great mouth feel with developing flavor that gets more grassy as it warms.

Light straw with short lasting foamy white head. Organic aroma with hint of basil. Peppery finish.
