At Fulton, we love hops. That star in our logo is made out of hops, in case you hadnt noticed. Of course, the hops plant contributes to the character of all of our beers, but sometimes we just want more. Thats why we decided to brew the Sweet Child of Vine. Generous quantities of Simcoe and Glacier hops are added throughout the boil. Then, late in the fermentation process, we infuse the Sweet Child with another dose of Glaciers, imparting a bouquet of hop aroma that veritably bursts forth upon serving. But dont let all this talk of hops mislead you. The Sweet Child has a serious malt backbone to stand up to all those hops, creating a delightful balance that will keep you coming back for more. Its an IPA, Fulton-style.

355ml bottle. This is not the greatest, some lemon-lime notes, pretty crappy.

Bottle, shared by me... in my dining room... just now.
Pours a full on orange color with a big tight white head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is sweet tarts, aspirin, melon and citrus forward hops, and a mild bit of crystal malt.

The flavor is leafy like romaine lettuce, lightly bitter but still manages an astringent finish, and has a bit of sweet tart flavor. The actual hop flavor is reasonably low but features a bit of citrus zest and a little bit of floral character.

Um, I swear this was reasonably good on draught, but wow!

16 oz can to pint. Pours hazy copper, creamy beige head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine and grass. Taste of the same with a green tea bitter finish. Mouthful is mod syrupy, appropriate carb.

Tap in MSP airport. Remembered as a good IPA, this tap seemed boozy and off putting. Very possibly a bad snapshot. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16iz can shared. Poured a medium dark orange with white head. The aroma is strictly English ipa. Medium malt base and a medium hop aroma light citrus scent. The flavor is more of the same nice mellow malt and a medium hop flavor not a west coast or east coast ipa but an English ipa. Very drinkable.

Pours a dark amber color with white head. Nice hop aromas and flavors. Ever so slightly too bitter

On tap at the Tipsy Cow in Madison, WI. for pre-GToM festivities. Dispensed to a shaker showing a hazed, amber color, with light tan head foam, and some wavy cling to the lacing. The nose was subtle perfume, light citrus, and resin. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, the taste was again citrus, with moderate but forceful pine, and an earthy, citrusy, and rind-like hop bitterness. A little tanginess came along for the ride. Liked it!

12 ounce bottle
After a few free pints of this during a social event I picked up a bottle to try at home. It improved slightly over the experience with a plastic cup yet it still lacks that little extra to set it apart. The result was not a total waste though; at least I know one brewery to skip on the next trip to Minneapolis as far as stocking up on singles.

Aroma / Appearance - The polished pennies shine in the glass with carbonation trapped under a dusky ivory head. Citrus notes, flowers, and hop driven iced tea lend an earthiness that feels Midwestern to the core.

Flavor / Palate - Malted iced tea with a dose of floral hops briefly sparks the palate. It then falls apart after a few seconds. The unremarkable finish lacks the hop bite that I anticipated for the style. Toning back the malts might give it what it needs to achieve something other than a middle of the road daily drinker for the Minnesota crowd.

Very nice IPA. Tons of aroma, lots of fresh citrus and grass. Sweet and a bit unbalanced, but it was what I wanted at the time anyway. Tried at the Mill City Tavern at the Minneapolis airport in 2015.

Bottled sample from Whole Foods in Minneapolis. Serious malt backbone is a good description. Much darker than I expected. Very good
