COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A libertine is someone living free of societys restraints. Similarly, The Libertine doesnt constrain itself with preconceived notions of what a beer style should be. Loaded with malts that include the UKs premium Maris Otter and Caramel 60, and topped off with Rye to impart a distinct reddish hue, the Libertine is a malt-dominated red ale like none youve ever had before. It boasts a rich, indulgent body without being overly sweet. Conventional classifications fail The Libertine, but who really wants to play by the rules anyway?

Sampled this at The Dabbler yesterday. A very pleasant beer and surprisingly easy drinking for an imperial red.

Draft at Fulton Taphouse near Target Field in Minneapolis. Sweetness in the nose. Softly carbonated. Higher alcohol prevalent. Caramel notes with a hint of molasses. A little harshness/pepper in the finish. Nice beer, probably their best to date.

Capped 750 from Guerde. What trading is all about! Thanks Andy! Pours almost cherry red with a slight beige head. Aroma is heavy malt - sort of like a rye wee heavy? Full bodied. Boy it is malty. Theres some roast malt, something a little nutty perhaps, and there are rye spice notes. It doesnt finish exactly dry, but it is pretty close considering how malty it starts.

ABR 2010. I liked this. Tons of malt aroma and grainy, malt flavor on the palate with bread. Just a light hint of roast. The rye gives a very light sourness. Red/brown color.

Tasted this at its release party in minneapolis. Thought it was a tasty Red Ale, well balanced and unique, and smoother that the ABV would indicate. surely worth a try.

On tap at Muffuleta's - boy is this nice. Dark ruby pour with a light white head. Malty nose, a heavy red ale that coats your mouth with a nice balance of malt and hops. Really nice! If this was $6 in the stores I would be buying a ton of it!!

Bottle. Dark amber pour, very light carbonation and an aroma of spicy rye and caramel. Flavor is also some spicy caramel, hints of medicinal raisins and dry & a little warming on the finish. At $10 bottle, Ill probably only pick this one up once; but good nonetheless.

Sweet malt with a rye spice in the background. Im getting some dark fruit and hop bitterness in the finish. This is really smooth beer.

Minnesota Trip Beer #92. Keg at the brewery, 5/9/16. Clear dark red, thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of caramel, citrus, bits of coffee. The taste is caramel, toffee, Twizzler candy. Medium bodied.
