The Ringer is an American Pale Ale with a crisp hop character and bright citrus aroma. The Ringer, however, is lighter than it would appear, clocking in at only 5% ABV. (Put another way, The Ringer cannot appear weightless). For today, weve cask conditioned the Ringer on Nelson Sauvin Hops.

Lots of hops and citrus, a bit of pleasant sweetness but overall too bitter for me. A bit of a funky aftertaste.

12 oz bottle. 16144. (Super One Liquor) Baxter, MN.
Clear deep golden color with a small white head. Tea, fruit tea, mild bitterness and some malt in the aroma. The flavor is mild with tea, lemon tea, mild bitterness and dryish malt. Would need some depth.

Poured an orange color with a white head. Aroma was of oranges, stale hops and caramel. Flavor similar, not great.

Golden color with a wispy near white head. Light aromas of citrus and hint of biscuits. Light sweetness leads to a touch of acidity. Overall rather calm. Actually rather boring. With hints of floor clearer, likely a flavor brought out by lack of others.

Aroma is the best part here with a perfume, slight hop approach. Flavor is mostly bitter, slight hop flavor, fairly dry. Body is a touch thin. Has a lingering unpleasant bitter finish..

Yuck, what a waste of my evening beer. Not sure if I am going to finish this. Kind of taste apricot underneath all the ashtray. Maybe I just got a bad batch?

Bottle. Pours amber with off-white head. Nose has citrus peel - pleasant but simple. Flavor is very light caramel malt, just a bit of sweet spiciness, finishes has strong orange and lime peel bitter hops cleaning the palate. Fruit forward hoppiness, but good - I would have again --summery.

Keg @ Fulton. Medium amber pour with a modest white head. Moderately neutral nose. Some bread, cracked black pepper. A touch of citrus and cantaloupe. Caramel. Flavor is somewhat sweet. Dry lightly woody bitter finish. Supple and smooth. Created to be inoffensive and easy to drink. Prickly carb. Fine.

12 oz bottle into an Irish pub-style imperial pint glass. Hazy amber color, lightly carbonated. 1/2 inch off-white head, receding leaving thick lacing behind. Malty, bready aroma plus some grassy hops. The initial taste has a nice malt backbone; the bitterness of the hops comes quickly, but not too strongly. The hops do not assert themselves strongly in the taste, but there is some flowery or faintly citrusy flavor with not a lot of bitterness. The finish has more bitterness, but even so, you dont get dominate malt breadiness or sweetness, either. The finish has a little malty sweetness with a bit more hops bitterness. Sorry if Im sounding repetitious; the flavor in this beer is kind of subdued. This is a pleasant enough beer, and easily drinkable, but dont expect to be overwhelmed by any particular aspect of it. This is a great beer for a gateway to craft.
