COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Imperial Stout is about drawing a line in the sand. It has a consistency similar to 5W-30. Adventurous tattoo artists have used it in place of ink. If left outside during winter, it won’t freeze, even in Minnesota. Beneath the dark exterior, a swirling ambush of coffee and chocolate flavors await, held up by a decadent malt backbone. Like its namesake, The Worthy Adversary’s movements are mysterious. Be wary–it could strike anywhere, any time.

12oz bottle, labeled 9.5%, 81 IBU. Bit of a low fill. Thanks to Paul & Jamie. Shared. Code on the bottle is too cryptic for me to bother recording it. Very dark brown color, with a minimal ring of bubbly head. Some mild roast in the nose. Little dark fruit in the flavor, some soy, hint of dark chocolate. Medium-plus body. Bit thin. Light, kind of crisp carbonation. Mild slick texture, leading to a light dry finish. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, moderate sweet, mildly sugary. Interesting, solid one.

Nasty bitter notes. Like the barley was burnt or something... I won't bother buying again, unless I forget about it, which is why I mistakenly bought it this time ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Taster on tap. Pours black, beige froth head. Aroma of choc, coffee, toffee and booze. Taste of the same with quite a bit of booze in the finish but really well balanced.

Little head; no nose; Bitter with a very slight sweetness on the front pallet with a bitter lingering back pallet due to the high hopping of the beer. The bitter flavor comes from the malt. I discern no coffee or chocolate taste as touted in their site deScription.

Black draft pour at Fulton. Brown head. Roasty and sweet. Vanilla cocoa and malty. Fantastic. A huge beer

750ml. Pours a rich burnt umber color with a finger of khaki foam. nose is chewy grain, soft roast, cocoa powder, caramel and cookie crisp cereal. Palate is silky with soft round roasted notes of cocoa, some weird ashy bitterness, lingering burnt brownie, decent just a touch of strangeness in the mid to late palate that keeps me from loving it.

750 mL bottle from Strykzone-thanks! 2013 bottle says 9.5%. Very dark but opaque brown rim. Nose of bakers cocao, burnt and dark roast malts. Thick, fairly oily, dark and burnt malts, cocao, some hot booze despite not being that high for the style. Satisfying if not terribly complex.

One of a series of great (and strong!) beers I sampled at MKC in 2015. Thick, rich, licorice, coffee, chocolate, and cherry.

12oz pour at the brewery. Very dark brown with tan head. Sweet alcohol aroma with malt and molasses. Sweet and alcohol throughout. Rich kind of creamy and alcohol bite at the end. Worthy.

12oz bottle. Dark brown with a slight reddish tinge, some brown head that disappears. Nicely roasted malt, chocolate shavings, some hazelnut and caramel, mild+ carbonation, moderate body, sweet, somewhat boozy, interesting.
