3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown/black pour with a short mocha colored head. Chocolate and coffee aromas with a hint of vanilla and hops. Taste starts sweet and finishes hoppy-bitter and boozy. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, anise, and booze. A mans stout. Time to bury a fallen soldier and stick one in the cellar. I have a feeling my 3.8 rating could go much higher.

Pours an opaque black from the bottle with thin wispy tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of dark roast coffee and malt notes, hint of acrid coffee, dark chocolate, and a hint of soy. Taste follows, a mild bitterness, and a mild booze. Solid imperial stout. Brigadier (3725) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - FEB 28, 2017

A big imperial stouts makes a statement. I have not tried enough Fulton beers to get a sense of their full potential but so far I can tell they are more than a one trick pony. Their higher gravity beers match the quality of the more sessionable IPAs. If I lived closer I could see making their tasting room a regular stop.
Aroma / Appearance - A mocha head surfs on a wave of deep black oily liquid. Roasted coffee, almonds, chocolate, and dry malts overwhelm the nose. The density might not match the best out there but for a regional brand it checks off all the right boxes.
Flavor / Palate - Dry malts, coffee, and warm full bodied cocoa fill the mouth like slightly watered down black ink. The coffee profile sweeps into the finish where it is joined by raspberries and a strong malty texture. From start to finish this does everything right. If you’re in the area and have already given Darkness a shot don’t overlook this local gem.
12 oz bottle pours black with very thin tan head cocoa and coffee aroma taste is the same with a bit of booze. slowrunner77 (12569) - Reno, Nevada, USA - FEB 17, 2017
Big inky pour. Aroma is pretty coffee heavy for a beer I don’t think actually contains coffee. Complex roasted malts, coffee, bittersweet chocolate and earth. Medium to full bodied. Nice.
