3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewery. Poured a clear copper-orange color with a moderate off-white head that faded to a ring. Aroma of sweet, bready malt with some soft caramel paired with a spicy, earthy yeastiness with some light bandaid phenols. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some soft maltiness leads into lightly tart middle with some soft citrus fruit (lemon, orange) that is followed by an abrupt yeasty dryness that lingers into the finish paired with a light fruitiness and some soft breadiness. Tight carbonation and a crisp, dry mouth feel. Overall, its a nice meld of styles that does resemble a good biere de garde as lush said.
Tap at the brewery. Clear, dark amber with a creamy but small head. Nose of caramel and banana and taste adds yeast and crisp finish. Solid. GarrettB (1599) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 15, 2012
Summer 2011 - I think Belgian has plenty of its own resistance, what with that whole separatist movement thing going on. A little of Belgian Resistance out in Ft. Collins is fine, though. It’s a dark amber color, and opens with smell of graham crackers and grilled chicken, harkening back to strange memories of childhood treats and bachelor dinners. The flavor treats the tongue to a nice dose of brown sugar and some of that graham flavor, but as lightly and as quietly as possible. It’s like a dark saison, and still features that characteristic Funkwerks subtlety that gives it its own place in a town crowded with breweries. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - APR 10, 2012
(Draught) Pours a clear amber body with a medium cream head. Aroma of fruit, florals, grain, light pepper, and mustiness. Flavor of yeast, apple, toasted grain, caramel, and nuts with mild bitterness in the finish. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 9, 2011
On tap at the brewery. Pours with a hazy copper body with a lasting off-white head. Aromas are flowery, spicy, phenol, malty, hoppy and some vanilla. Flavors are malty, honey/floral, grainy, a bit of peppery phenol. Lively bubbles, dry and good. A bit more malt forward (and yeast clean) than any of the other Funkwerks beers that I have had. Nearly Biere de Garde like in that respect. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 27, 2011

Draft at Funkwerks. Pours an orangey gold, fluffy and persistent white head. Nose is pretty generic to Funkwerks. White pepper and strong malty component, light fruitiness. On tasting, more of the same. Grassy hop notes and white pepper. Pretty well balanced but not particularly memorable overall. Okay. dnstone (3418) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 7, 2011
