Tap at the brewery. Light blonde pour with large white head. Bready and pils-like aroma. Some grassy notes and notes of German hops as well. Slightly herbal character. Straightforward, very crisp. UPDATED: SEP 12, 2011 draft. unfiltered and cloudy golden wheat body. muddy and estery pilsner malt nose (baked crackers, dough, mild sweetness) with some wort / brewhouse rawness. effervescent and zesty with white pepper phenols and orange flesh fruitiness. pils malt is mildly rough and astringent, giving it a baked cracker crispness in the finish, and while the belgian yeast doesn’t seem to pair so well with the pils malt snappiness and roughness, it’s still delicious and well-made, and at 5% it’s definitely sessionable, which isn’t the case with many of funkwerks’ other saisons. corby112 (2804) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 21, 2011
Draft at the brewpub.
Pours a slightly hazy, light golden yellow color with pale straw yellow hues and a half finger white head that quickly settles into lasting ring. Sporadic lacing.
Slightly earthy aroma smells like brewed w saison yeast. Hints of barn, straw and grass as well as light fruit, pale malt and subtle floral hops.
Light, crisp and very quaffable with a nice balance of earthy funk, floral hops, pale malt and light fruit. Hops more prominent than expected. Hints of apple, pear and lemon.

Flavors are lightly tarty, pretty subdued yeast character, ginger, bready, orange, somewhat crisp. Lightly grassy. Tasty. Lively bubbles and dry as always!
Absolutely excellent session beer (despite my rating numbers, this would be a beer I’d want to drink every day)! notalush (5878) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 26, 2011
Tap at Funkwerks - more like a cross between a golden ale and a pils, but since they seem to use the same yeast for everything, I suppose the saison designation works - pils malt is showcased well here - smooth and lager-like - chalky a bit through the middle - a bit of spiciness from the yeast - peppery - yeastiness and a bit of perfumey aromatics - dry, biscuity finish - easy drinking and flavorful for something so light. dnstone (3418) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 9, 2011
