On draft at the brewery. The aroma is mild, slight hot alcohol notes. Lots of dark stone fruit character, woody, vanilla, nutty, malty. Nice beer. Theydon_Bois (20165) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - SEP 1, 2012

Tap at Hops & Pie. Poured a reddish-brown in appearance with a small tan head. Aroma us dark fruits, red licorice, blackberries, plums, and red grapes. Taste is red wine, yeast, grapes, plums, dark cherries, and light roast with a very dry finish. Light body with soft carbonation. Very smooth and easy to drink especially for 8% ABV. Really enjoyed this one; nicely done. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - JUL 24, 2012
On tap at Freshcraft in Denver. Served in a tulip. Pours a moderate brown color. Touch of wine in the nose. Dark fruit. Touch of earth and spice. Dry. Hint of metal. Nothing too in depth or complex. Wouldn’t really seek this out again.

Tap. Pours clear dark brown with a medium, fizzy tan head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is oak, caramel, chocolate, earthy hops, some vinous notes and dark fruity esters. Flavor is medium malt with oak, tannins, grapes, chocolate, dates and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. notalush (5895) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - JUL 5, 2012
Tap at Funkwerks - hazy dark ruby - frothy head - nose is pretty awesome, with notes of toffee, raisin, brown sugar, moderately rich maltiness, folded well into a moderate wine character - some light dirty phenols creep in, but don’t totally spoil it - full but soft carbonation in the mouth - flavor is surprisingly dry - dusty, earthy yeast - flavors of raisin, fig and plum add sweetness through the middle - moderate dry cocoa notes - very mild wine notes - light spicy phenols - everything is fairly well integrated - I dig it. 3fourths (9351) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 12, 2012
draft. lightly opaque cola brown. brown sugar and brown malt nose with the expected dark fruit esters (black cherry, currant, plum). mild to medium oak, medium-light acidity, low bitterness, medium-high sweetness. a mash of fruit, hazelnuts and brown sugar with a subtle acetic quality that *almost* works. there’s a bit too much solvent / sulfur noticed when it warms, phenols are higher than I’d prefer, and a small bit of fusel alcohol gives it a ziplock bag / petroleum character (extremely mild but noticeable to me). a bit too flabby and disjointed. cubs (10675) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 10, 2012
Tap @ Funkwerks. Deep reddish brown appearance with almost no head. Dark fruity, plum, blackberry, black cherry, oaky aroma. The tannins come through even stronger in the flavor with notes of vanilla, leather, oak, light wine, cherries, and raisins. Pretty tasty.
