COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This single hop Belgian ale was brewed to showcase a new hop called Polaris; a new high alpha (21 percent!) German variety. Because this hop provides so much bitterness we only used it at the end of the boil and during dry-hopping to give the most flavor and aroma possible. The aroma is woody and spicy with a hint of evergreen. These aromas carry into the flavor which is balanced by bready malt. The finish is dry with a pleasant lingering bitterness.

Bottle courtesy of Aaron. Shared @ Bobby’s house. Hazy golden pour with a white head. Floral hops, green melon, and a bit of apple. Some spicy nutmeg notes, bread, and a subtle tartness. Interesting. Flavor is a touch sweet up front. Mild hop bitterness, lots of floral notes, and green melon. Apple, bread, and a touch of spice. Not bad.

Tap @ Funkwerks. Pours a hazy light yellow appearance with a white head. Spicy, peppery yeasty, rich lemon, light skunk, a bit juicy, tropical aroma. Spicy, a little bready yeasty, big lemon, lightly tart, herbal hoppy, grassy, peppery, slightly floral/soapy flavor. Pretty easy to drink but similar to some of the other products at Funkwerks, so a little boring.

750mL thanks to brokensail. Pours a full haze bright white/straw. Thicker foam. Nose is heavy esters, big acetaldehyde/apple, celery. Taste is celery, sugar, paper, minerals. The Funkwerks house yeast and water profile has created a pervasive problem with their beers.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle at the brewery, hazy yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice grass, white peach, pear notes into a slight biscuit, bread, herbal notes come through with a hint of yeast. Taste is a mix of white fruits, nice peach, hints of grass and spice into a biscuit middle with some yeast, finishing fairly bitter, dry.

On tap at Funkwerks. Golden and pretty clear with a bright white head and lacing. The aroma is pine, herbs, light citrus, mint and spices. Similar flavor with toasted malts. Light fluffy body with a crisp dry feel and a lingering bitter finish. Pretty interesting and refreshing.

Big thanks to lenincat, this hop tastes like soap an cheap candy, it’s cool but I probably wouldn’t brew with it

notalush (5910) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - JAN 2, 2013
Tap at Funkwerks - brewed to showcase the polaris hop - cloudy gold pour with a fluffy head - loads of peppermint and pine in the nose from the hop, along with some lavender and honey - flavor is a bit sweet for the abv, but the hops kick in with some pepper and mint to balance this - some wheat and honey late - a touch of apricot and lingering bitterness in the finish - nice brew.

Bottle at home with friends. Pour is hazy lemon peel with a huge white head and great lacing. Grass, lemony, citrusy, soapy aroma - light biscuit, straw, somewhat tangy, pineapple, and manog. Taste is grassy, soapy, light pepper, pineapples, lemon rind, tangy, and tropical fruits with a lightly bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Nice sessionable saison.

Odd beer here with a dominant nose of lemon dish soap. Really soapy and herbal and a bit hyper carbonated. Really fizzy and lacking body a bit. Interesting but strange.

Bottle. Thanks to adnielsen for sending. Pours a hazy golden orange color with white head. Citrus, lemon, grassy, doughy aromas. Spicy, lemon, citrus, grassy, white bread flavors. Pretty easy drinking light belgian ale with a touch of hops.
