COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Solenna pairs the fruitiness of a traditional Belgian yeast strain with the subtle spicy character of Brettanomyces and the floral notes of German hops. Notes of candy apple, cinnamon, and fresh-cut grass give way to a dry finish and firm lingering bitterness.

Malty fruity Aroma with Brett. Great fluffy thick head that slowly subsides with a little lace. Flavor’s like nose, sweet bitter tart, but not overly complex. Decent body in Finish. Fairly good drinking beer.

Aroma is brown sugar/burnt caramel and frui/malts. The flavor is fruit/mild citrus, slightly burnt caramel, malts and a tart/medium sweet finish.

330ml bottle. 10/3/16 bottle date. Appearance: Deep amber, clear, with a thick, frothy off white head and great lacing. Aroma: Sour apple, grassy, and a distinct brett funkiness. A touch of cinnamon. Taste: Light malt sweetness, grassy, tart apple, and a really strong barnyard, horsey funkiness from the brett. Fairly strong bitterness. Mouthfeel: Light bodied with a fairly high carbonation Finish: Dry with a strong grassy, funky brett that lingers. Overall: With around 8 mths on this beer, the brett is aggressive and dominant in the aroma and flavor of the beer. Malt character is very low, and the dark amber color suggests there should be more there. Brett is really the showpiece of this beer, almost a little one dimensionally so.

Cloudy amber with off white head. Berry and floral aroma. Tastes of barnyard, floral hoppines, only lightly sour, a bit medicinal.

Red orange pour with an average lasting large bubbled white head. Floral aroma with traditional barnyard funk. Tart flavor with hibiscus, very earthy. Decent overall.

sweet malty nose. Malty mouth with big Belgian yeast but pretty unsophisticated.

Tap at Marciero. Dark brown with reddish tint and lace. Hazy. Spicy nose ginger, cinnamon, fudge, raisins. Funky, spicy yeast, chocolate, licorice. As it warmed, it got more and more spicy, too much.

Bottle (Aug 24, 2016 bottling). Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), with notes of clove, plastic (those little "army men" toys), dirt/compost, autumn leaves, carpet, metal. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, spicy, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Surprisingly poor...rough and dirty aroma is not at all enticing (perhaps from a poor Brett strain or poor fermentation technique), and while the flavor balance is mostly ok it seems overspiced with something (maybe it doesn?t contain adjuncts but it sure smells like it...like a lot of real cloves, not yeast-like clove-ish notes) and the aftertaste is a bit dirty too. A certified drain pour. Two more strikes from recent Funkwerks samples, guess I?ll resume ignoring this brewery again. Sigh.
