Pours a dark amber color with a khaki head. Sweet malt dominates the nose. Toffee and vanilla give the beer substantial sweetness, as do dark fruit aromas. A mild banana note, some oak, and a hint of yeast and spice. The flavor is full of dark fruit, toffee, caramel, and vanilla. There is a hint of alcohol, light spices, and some banana. Might be just a hint of dark chocolate. Not much of a saison/farmhouse beer as the label indicates, but quite good. Sledutah (7484) - Utah, USA - JUN 30, 2012
750ml bottle (406/675) from Doodler, thanks Gription79 (2886) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Appearance: Clear dark brown with a big tan head and some lacing
Aroma: Roasted malts, oak, bourbon and tart dark fruit
Taste: Toasted malts, sourness and fruity
A 750ml bottle thanks to Craig. Notes of bourbon, citrus, floral, dark fruits, cherry. Very interesting. douglas88 (9049) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 29, 2012
750 ml bottle thanks to Craig. Pours a dark murky brown color with a medium off-white. A great roast and oaky, some sour aromas. A rich flavorful brew that simply defies characterization; oak, light roast, dry, sweet. Very unusual. drfabulous (7780) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JUN 16, 2012
750 thanks to Scott. Raisins. Figs. Slight bourbon. Big on the dark fruit flavor. A solid Dubbel or "Belgian Strong." Very tasty.

Poured a dark, murky, amber with a medium tan head. Smells of vanilla, figs, bourbon, prunes, and glue. Taste is very sweet, but somewhat balanced by the alcohol, with hints of vanilla and whiskey. Paired this with dark chocolate and it worked well. Kind of different for FW, but very interesting. Worth a try. Rustyham (1836) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - APR 9, 2012
Sweet malt smell, slight saltwater taffy flavor. Cloudy deep brown to amber color. Flavor if prosciutto ham, or other salted and cured meats. Pretty good, and quite intriguing, but not the smoothest drink I’ve had. deyholla (11479) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 30, 2012
Bottle thanks to Tom. Pours a clear deep reddish brown with a brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of dark grains and fruit with a bit of backing funk and barrel. Flavor starts with a hint of bourbon with dark grains and bread with a hint of funk. jcnielsen (3403) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAR 9, 2012
My first official rating on RateBeer comes from one of my favorite newer breweries, Funkwerks! Pours a hazy brown. Spicy, bourbon, yeasty. Interesting Belgian beer.
