750 ml bottle. Pours a deep red, light brown with a 3 finger+ off white head. Sweet nose with bourbon, oak and dark fruits. Med to full body with lots of oak, bourbon, vanilla, light chocolate and sweet dark fruits. Some spice and yeast esters. Warming finish with more lingering bourbon and oak. Really nice beer! Tap @ Funkwerks. Cloudy reddish brown appearance with a brown head. Fairly spicy, dark fruity (plum, fig, dark grape), a touch tangy, light bourbon, moderate barnyard aroma that’s actually fairly complex. Soft mouth feel. Leather, fig, plum, spicy, a bit musty, chocolate, rich oak, light to moderate bourbon, rich dark toffee belgian yeasty flavor. Very interesting brew. Bottle number 395 of 675 thanks to ratman! Pours with a murky, very dark brown body and a large, fluffy, khaki head that leaves good lace and has great retention. Aromas are of dark fruits, spicy oak, bourbon and a boat load of tannins. A lot of vinous aromas as well, red wine, earthy, jammy. Plums, currants, cherries, vanilla, saw dust and a lot of wood. Flavors are big in every way. Huge bourbon character with associated notes of vanillin, spicy oak, coconut. Lots of dark fruits, big alcohol, caramelization and bready malt. Long oaky duration. Cherries, fig, currants, boozy, dates, fruit rollup, leather. Cherry and chocolate. Earthier, dusty, leathery, and phenolic notes push themselves to the fore front as this beer warms.
Tannic on the mouthfeel, pretty dry but backed up with a wall of alcohol. Medium to fuller bodied. Unique stuff and tasty for sure. Aml42000 (625) - Washington, USA - FEB 12, 2012
Barrel aged brown ale. Spicy nose from the oak along with some banana. Rich medium to full bodied palate. Nutty along with some date flavors. High carbonation, long finish.

My first official rating on RateBeer comes from one of my favorite newer breweries, Funkwerks! Pours a hazy brown. Spicy, bourbon, yeasty. Interesting Belgian beer. wedgie9 (2703) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 1, 2013
From notes. Tasted at a tasting at Curtis’s old house, probably around early 2012, from a 750mL bottle. Pours dark amber with a massive beige head that recedes very slowly to thin lace. The nose is dry brett funk with brown sugar, caramel, and darkly toasted bread. The flavor is lightly sweet caramel, brown sugar with some banana and a bunch of dry, brett funk. The body is full with average carbonation and a long funky and caramel malt finish. drfabulous (8589) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JUN 16, 2012
750 thanks to Scott. Raisins. Figs. Slight bourbon. Big on the dark fruit flavor. A solid Dubbel or "Belgian Strong." Very tasty. douglas88 (9631) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 29, 2012
750 ml bottle thanks to Craig. Pours a dark murky brown color with a medium off-white. A great roast and oaky, some sour aromas. A rich flavorful brew that simply defies characterization; oak, light roast, dry, sweet. Very unusual.
