COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally designed to be a hoppier version of our flagship Saison, the accidental (but fortuitous) addition of two extra bags of Munich malt balanced the hop bitterness leaving us this very unique Imperial Saison. Tropical fruit flavors coming from the unique New Zealand hop variety, Rakau. Notes of passion fruit, mango, peach, pepper and ginger.

This is quite a unique ale, a saison/German hoppy wheat beer hybrid. Pours lightly into a tulip glass, revealing a frothy cappuccino like foam. The honey nectar color is spectacular, looks almost like fresh squeezed oj. The hops combo is well crafted, balancing sour funk with earthy unfiltered style tanginess. Notes of wheatgrass and green apples. This is an extremely satisfying, exceptional ale. Cheers Funkwerks!

Barrel aged 2016. Fruity but not overly sweet. Interest continues with each sip and is really not too bad. Surprised how well I like this.

markducommun (1121) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 9, 2017
Cloudy golden orange, ample foamy white head. Dried apricot, hay, light resin. Some honey and coriander. Fairly bitter, some sweetness. Quite spicy. Medium oily body, extremely long finish that has a good amount of funk to it. Good.
