Yellow, white head. Nose is basil, lime, fruity hops. Basil very evident in the taste, citrus fruits, a touch of line, spices and hops in the finish. Medium bodied, somewhat oily with a dry finish. Fritz123 (1535) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - MAR 21, 2013
Draft at Funky Buddha. Snifter. Pours a orange brown with thick head and decent lace. Head is retained nicely. Serious aroma of basil. Smelled like a Caprese salad which I love. Also some mild malt and citrus smells came through. On first taste the basil is very prominent. However it quickly disappears to a mild, smooth taste of light hops and malt. The lime is a nice aftertaste. Drake (14057) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Brewvival Trip Beer 73, as Basil Pale Ale 6.2%. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin tan head.. Decent head retention. Aroma of basil, lime, pale malts. The taste is lime, pith ,pale malts, basil finish. Medium bodied. Nice beer. blomster (289) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 4, 2011
Bottle from darkguardian. Pours hazy amber with a creamy, near white head.
Spicy/herby smell with basil, citrus, lime, ginger. Very clean tasting, lots of basil which oddly enough works really well here, also grass, citrus. Medium to high carbonation, medium bodied.
This is a really interesting beer, very refreshing. Might have to give basil a try in a future homebrew after tasting this one. adam42381 (386) - Fort Myers, Florida, USA - AUG 13, 2011
Poured from a quart growler into a New Belgium globe. Thanks to HoptualBrew for picking this up for me a couple days ago at Funky Buddha.
Appearance: Pours a medium amber color with orange highlights and a 1 finger creamy off-white head. Nice head retention and lacing.
Smell: Basil shines through with a bit of herbal hops and just a touch of lime in the background. Smell is spicy, malty and fairly sweet.
Taste: Basil is prominent up front followed by sweet malt and a touch of lime in the middle before ending with a solid amount of piney hops at the finish. The aftertaste is longlasting and fairly spicy with basil and hops coming through. I wish the lime was more prominent, but there’s really not much room to complain here. Very well-balanced.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Very smooth.
Drinkability: High drinkability. I’m going to have no trouble downing 32 ounces of this one.
Overall: Very good beer overall. This is my first beer from Funky Buddha and it didn’t disappoint. I like that they went in a strange direction - Basil and lime - and pulled it off. If you get a chance to try this one, it’s definitely worth a shot.

Draft… Lightly hazed orange ale with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is a spicy, malty swirl of basil, black tea, ginger and toffee. Full-bodied and fatty with moderate carbonation. The flavor consists of buttery toffee and spice-rack goodness balanced by carefully calculated hop bitterness – no more and no less than necessary. Finishes buttery with an oily diacetyl finish. Seems appropriate here. Very tasty! beernovice39 (3270) - Idaho, USA - JUL 30, 2011
Draft at brewer. Gold pour with a white head. Scent is herbs and citrus. Taste is grassy, herbal and citrus. Slimbrundage (80) - USA - JUL 22, 2011
Golden straw color with fluffy white head. The nose is herbaceous hops, grapefruit with plenty of basil, very pleasant. The body is medium with fair carbonation. The flavor has a lot of grassy hops, basil with just a hint of lime. Nice session beer. darkguardian (733) - Florida, USA - JUL 19, 2011
Draft. Nose is heavy basil with a hint of hops. No sign of the lime. Clear amber color with a nice body for a pale ale. Flavor is huge basil upfront with a hoppy bitter middle, finishes with a little vanilla. Solid and interesting. pumpmaster (1429) - Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA - JUL 18, 2011
Sample at the Funky Buddha bar on 7/16/11. Not bad but not a favorite style.
