Draft at the brewery. Fairly clear, amber in color. A phenolic bomb. Lots of pepper, almost medicinal. Sweet, with some alcohol burn. Not my style, and not a good example sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 3, 2014
Tap at brewery. Pours clear copper with fizzy off-white head. Aroma is cereal and caramel malts, Belgian yeast, floral notes, green raisins, and light pear. Flavor is dry malts with woody bitterness, some spice, and faint toast; dry finish with some lingering bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. snoworsummer (5697) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 3, 2014
Draft at the brewery. Pours clear copper with a creamy white head. Tastes lightly sweet, like bubblegum, spices, malt, bready. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like malt, yeast, light spice. MartinT (9880) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 13, 2014
My Bottom Line:
Bubblegum esters and citrusy, floral hops merge onto this Belgian-style Ale’s resinous bitterness for a compelling pint.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the shiny pale amber.
-The soft prickling of carbonation points towards America, not Belgium.
-Drinkability is sky high due to the refreshing nature of the hop bill and the leanness of the body.
-This is another very professional brew coming from the new Funky Buddha brewery .
