“Make the long night shorter, Forgetting not, Good stout old English Porter.” — R. H. Messenger

Luscious and silky smooth with a body to match, OP Porter is uncompromisingly rich yet surprisingly drinkable. A complex blend of dark malts and real milk sugar creates the bold flavors of dark roast coffee mingling with farm fresh cream. For the stout and porter lover in each of us, OP is a knockout.

Pairing suggestions: Cave-aged Bleu cheese, arancini with veal ragu, roast pork with gravy, bacon burger with fried egg and cheddar cheese, molten chocolate cake.

Small tan head. Little bit of lacing. Molasses in the nose. Taste is a sweet chocolate and molasses. Pretty good.

Somehow my rating got nuked by admin #195...copy and pasted: At brewery opening. I believe this is the base beer for the infamous Last Snow. Dark pour, slightly sweet aroma, very solid porter bordering on the sweet side of the style but still good.

Nose is luscious chocolate, light coffee. I think I smell bitter chocolate. Flavor is the same. Slightly more dark chocolate in the flavor but stops shirt of being astringent or overly coffee. Good stuff. ---Rated via intercellular device

Dark brown into black in a snifter. Small head. There is a strange and huge aroma of fruits in this one, blood oranges, dominant melon with a blend of cream and chocolate. Myabe some vanilla and vinegar? There is a distinctive taste of some fruit that is dominant and I cant quite figure out. No doubt this is hugely complex, maybe a bit lacking in body but my god, this is tasty!!

J’adore, ronde, gouteuse, bien faite. Merci funky, j’adore.

Big espresso, dark chocolate, and alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Tingly like carbonation. Too much alcohol presence while cold and when warmed. But so far my fav. at Funky buddha.

Appearance: The body is opaque black through all but the center, the edges show a clear mahogany to garnet color. The head is tall with good retention, it settles into a coating that coats the entirety of the surface.
Aroma: The aroma is coming off a tad rubbery with hints of lactose, roasted malts and cocoa. Overall the aroma is very restrained though.
Taste: Lots of lactose up front with a very muted malt presence, that hints at roasted malts and semi-dark chocolate with a slightly rubbery finish.
Palate: Soft bodied, like I’m drinking milk, with very light carbonation.
Overall: My first Funky Buddha beer has been a disappointment, this is too heavy on the lactose and I keep picking up rubber hints. Perhaps the growler just didn’t survive the shipping process.
