“Make the long night shorter, Forgetting not, Good stout old English Porter.” — R. H. Messenger

Luscious and silky smooth with a body to match, OP Porter is uncompromisingly rich yet surprisingly drinkable. A complex blend of dark malts and real milk sugar creates the bold flavors of dark roast coffee mingling with farm fresh cream. For the stout and porter lover in each of us, OP is a knockout.

Pairing suggestions: Cave-aged Bleu cheese, arancini with veal ragu, roast pork with gravy, bacon burger with fried egg and cheddar cheese, molten chocolate cake.

Bottle @ CBC’s 1st Birthday Party. Thanks to Ken (I think!) for bringing this along. The pour’s deep brown with no head. The nose is lactose and banana bread, chocolate with hints of vomit. The taste is very tangy lactose funk and cranberry covered chocolates. Some moldy brown dessert cake. The body is medium, the beer soft. This tastes like a somewhat malevolent infection to me. A bit of a fiasco, really.

Bottle shared at the Craft. Opaque black - brown beer, little pale bubbly tan head. Light crispy palate. Sweet and sour beer! Sweet lacto contrasts nicely with the tang - which is bordering on sour. These two aspects in a mellow dark malt backdrop that has a trace of roast. Smooth semi dry finish. Nice easy going and interesting porter.

Tap at Funky Buddha. It pours very dark brown, with a tan head. The nose is dark chocolate, roasted malt, rye bread and spice. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, rye bread, bitter chocolate, spice, touch of lactose (but not as much as anticipated) and metal, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. An ok porter, but below average in comparison to their other beers.

Medium-dark brown. The aroma is mostly diacetyl with nuttiness. Harshly astringent, toasty, nutty and full of butter. Gotta take it off tap when it turns.

Draft at brewpub. Dark brown-black. Thin beige cap. Aroma is oily coconut and Diacetyl, sadly. Beneath that is a nice coffee roast but the oily palate and Diacetyl gets in the way completely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gorgeous color. The nose is not as pronounced as I would have hoped. It definitely has chocolate notes and lactose. The taste is a fantastic balance of coffee and chocolate. It finsishes with milky chocolate vanilla flavors. Fantastic and easily drinkable.

Draft @ Funky Buddha. Pours black brown with red glow against light. Tanned creamy head leaving rich lacing. Aroma is roasted malty sweet fruity coffee a bit chocolate. Flavor is sweet roasted velvety malty fruity bitter; very nice and drinkable. Finishes fruity sweet roasted and bitter.

Tap. Moderate malt notes of toasted and dark chocolate, light herbs and earth for the hops and yeast, with a hint of vanilla and milk in the background. Head is small, frothy tan with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly bittersweet. Palate is medium, watery with lively carbonation and a slightly dry and chalky finish. A tasty sweet stout with pretty good drinking quality to it.

Dark handsome appearance, sweet as expected but not overbearing. Nice finish, and medium to heavy bodied. Drinkable which is the ultimate en=d game.
