bhensonb (15753) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 28, 2012
Swing-top from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma is mildly sweet, darkly fruity and bready. Med body. Flavor is rather dry, tends towards dark brown bread. It has mild bitterness, but doesn’t seem very fruity after all. It’s really hard for me to describe in full detail, but there’s some bits and pieces I don’t understand. It all hangs together well tho, and it’s a really tasty drink.

Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours dark brown with a rich beige head and a toasty aroma. There is a medium-bodied roasted malt flavor with a dry finish that sticks to the palate.

Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091017]

It’s mahogany-red with a huge, creamy head, and the aroma has notes of roasted malt, syrup, caramel and light cocoa. The flavour is moderately sweet to sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, nuts, syrup, light cocoa, and the finish is dry. It’s quite nice.

Lightly hopped Dunkel, brown appearance, cocoa and malt backbone blend well. Refreshing German beer with a long ass name.
