Pailhead (6495) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - SEP 22, 2016
On tap: The aroma consists of mild florals, cereal notes, and grass. It’s a transparent gold with a two finger white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There are some thin soapy rings left on the sides of the glass with each sip. The flavor starts with mild sweet cereal notes with a hint of honey. The finish has light-moderate grass and florals. It’s light bodied with light-moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.

Bright pale straw color with a high amount of activity. Slightly frothy white 2 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with a good amount of legs. Aromas of faint metal, sweet grains, and noble spices. Flavors of sweet malts, lemon, herbal spices. Slightly grassy and bready with a nice sharpness. Slick light to medium body with prickly carbonation. Light finish that lingers a little, ending with a grassy noble spicy feel and faint citrus. Overall average in quality. A little faint but still enjoyable. Decent flavors with good balance. Slightly flat with passable freshness.

In the world of Pilsner Beers this beer is not very remarkable at all. The Premium would imply something special and for me this genrally implies a richness to the taste, perhaps a special bitterness or aftertaste or even a special note to it. I cannot find this specialness in this beer but it is not in any way bad.

I drank this beer during one of my trip in Freiburg. It is a classical pils, yellow body and gold, regular carbonation, white and thin foam. The taste is watery, bitter and hop, malt but it is the hop that it is dominated like almost all the real pils, drinkable. I drank this beer in a restaurant on the tap, with a nice view of the city.

A good pils.

ComradeK (1158) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 21, 2016
Draught at The Bavarian Bier Cafe. Pours a clear medium gold, with a large white head, which lasts pretty well and leaves good lacing. The aroma has floral and spice hops and grainy malt. Spicy and light floral hops up front give way to caramel and white bread malt in the mid-palate. More spice finishes it off. A reasonable but uninspiring pilsner.
